2013 MDX cricket noise

After driving on highway for almost 20 minutes, there is a small noise like cricket singing, but I can not tell where it comes from. Any idea for this? And it is a 2013 MDX, base model.

It would be really hard if not impossible to diagnose this remotely using description of the sound.

Can you record the sound?

Does this sound appear only when driving, or when parked with the engine running as well?

Does the pitch change with RPM?

Had a similar problem, mine was a loose bolt on a bracket close to the alternator.

Had to go to the dealer, and replaced the propeller shaft.

How much did they charge? There are quite a few forums discussing this noise coming from the bearing mid way on the propeller shaft. Last i looked its still about $700 for the shaft since you cannot get the bearing replaced alone.

Pretty costly, around $1500, including diagnosis. Have to say, the reliability of Honda is going down. May try another brand for my next car.

Wow. The propeller shaft only costs $700. What's the rest $800 for? It takes about half an hour to swap the propeller shaft, just a matter of unbolting the old one along with the protector and bolting the new one in.
