2010 MDX Needs a $2K wire Harness??
So my "D" transmission indicator light starts blinking intermittently. Dealer says that the wires in the harness between the transmission and engine are frayed and wants $2K to replace the harness. Car has 75K miles on it. Dealer says heat may have caused the issue and there is no warranty because although it connect the engine to the tranny it's not part of the power train. Really? The car can't make 75K miles without a major issue like this? I thought things like this were behind me when I got rid of my BMW 740. Anyone else seen this issue?

So as a follow up, once I pushed back and told them I am taking the car to another shop I was told by the service manager "I wasn't here yesterday let me check out whats going on and call you right back". Right back at Pleasanton Acura means you won't hear from him again unless you have someone deliver a hand written message to call you. Anyways, cut to the chase after three days they agreed that the harness could be repaired for $500 instead of the $2K to replace it. Why does Acura treat customers this way??? Oh and guess what? I qualify for an extended warranty which will only set me back $3,100. Acura is clearly interested in boosting the profit from each "transaction" as we are called rather than providing actual service.

Geez OP sorry to read about your issues. Definitely sounds like an isolated event. BTW sounds to me that Pleasanton Acura is pushing a 3rd party warranty on you. Factory warranty is only 4/50k miles bumper-to-bumper and a 6 yr/70k mile powertrain warranty. You just missed the 70K miles cutoff by 5K miles.
If I were to get any extended warranty (also known as service contract) on any make, it would have to be one from the manufacturer. I doubt you can get AcuraCare since your warranty is expired. $3100 is too much for an aftermarket one. Acura Care can extend your factory warranty up to 8yrs/120K miles. If I'm not mistaken to get an extended warranty through Acura Care, you have to be within your 4/50K miles bumper-to-bumper warranty.

THAT individual Dealer is.
they dropped from $2k to $500. I'm willing to bet they are STILL holding out on you.
P.S. just like Acura_dude stated, that warranty is a 3rd party warranty and will usually do no good. please read fine print.
