Question 2010 MDX Homelink Issue

I haven't had any luck connecting the 2010 MDX homelink to my garage door. It uses Rolling code and I followed the steps in the manual and even called the homelink # without any luck.

I pressed the learn button on my garage
within 30 seconds I hold the homelink button for 2 seconds up to 3-4 times repeatedly.

Anyone have this issue?

I programmed mine on the first try...

You said that you press the learn button on the opener itself and press the homelink button for two seconds, but you never said whether or not you point your existing remote control at the homelink receiver before pressing the learn button...

You need to get the homelink in the MDX on the same frequency/pattern as your remote controls, so you need to point an existing remote control at the homelink unit, which will program your homelink unit on the same schedule as your remotes. Then you press the learn button on the opener head and press the homelink button for two seconds.

Hope this helps.

I just did this with a friend. I am sure I was holding the send button for the door as I pressed the MSX button I wanted to learn the code to. WHILE my friend pushed the GD button standing on a ladder. It took two trys but worked.

I programmed mine yesterday on the first try as well. Jeffpa's comments worked!

Thumbs up

I didn't realize I still had to point the old remote at the homelink receiver for rolling code openers.

But that worked jeffpa, THANKS!

2011 MDX Homelink Problem

Jeffpa and Dr. Yen, I had the same problem with my new 2011 MDX. I never read anywhere that you had to point the remote at the Homelink inside the car then...scoot up the ladder, press the learn button then.. get back in the car within 30 secs and then...press the Homelink again! I did take the suggestion from another post to change the batteries in my remote which is seven years old. I have two garage doors, so I performed the same routine for that door too. PROBLEM: after pairing my MDX, my Homelink buttons in my '03 Tahoe no longer operate either door !!!! I am afraid that reprogramming the Tahoe will delete the codes in the MDX! I guess I will have someone help perform the same procedure on both vehicles at the same time? What a pain!

You need to park the programmed vehicle out of the opener range.
I parked an older programmed TL around the corner when I did my new '11 MDX w a rolling code Genie system.

Note - the MDX programmed 1st time and no old remote was used (must depend on what the frequency is within the rolling code).
Note - the homelink website often says things your car manual does not !

I had problem of programing my old remote with 2011 mdx. I'd tried many times and it didn't work, so I tried on another remote and it worked! For some reason, if you have a pair of an old remotes, it works on only one. That was what I experienced.
