2010 MDX - DTS 4.10 playback problem
Okay, this is a very specific problem, but I'm hoping someone here has a solution.
I just picked up the Rhino DVD of Chicago Transit Authority, which is a four-channel DVD mixed from the quad mixes of the 1970s. It is NOT a DVD-Audio (no matter what it says on the label); it's a DVD with a DTS 4.0 and a Dolby Digital 4.0 track. Since I have the 2010 MDX Advance/Entertainment, I didn't think there would be any problem with it.
Of course, it won't play in the regular DVD-Audio/CD player, but it will play in the DVD RES player. However, the player will not recognize the rear channels in DTS 4.0. All that comes through, both front and rear speakers, is the front channel (and since the horns on such songs as "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is" are mixed to the rear, this sounds truly weird). If I switch over to Dolby Digital 4.0., it plays the rear channels just fine, but Dolby Digital sounds so weak and anemic in comparison with DTS that this is a very sub-par solution.
I have a Hyundai Genesis with a DVD-Audio/DVD player and a 17-speaker Lexicon system, and the DTS tracks play wonderfully there--rich, resonant, and vibrant in all four channels. The DTS 4.0 tracks play fne in my home system as well, but since I spend more music-listening time in the Acura than in any other vehicle, I'd love to be able to hear it there as well.
Anyone have any suggestions or solutions? Anyone else have this disc? Have you been able to get it to play successfully in DTS 4.0?

In this day and age it should not be a problem to copy the disk to someones hard drive and have them reburn to a new disk in the format you need for it to play on your Acura system. I have friends who do it for me since it is near impossible to find a DVD-Audio disk anywhere right now.
