2009 MDX Audio Upgrade

I have a base-model 2009 MDX and am looking to upgrade everything, starting with the speakers. I'm currently in the research phase, but once completed, I will be documenting the installation in detail for others to use

According to this thread (http://www.mdxers.org/forums/19-audi...tml#post469341) the stock SPEAKER amp is located behind the glovebox. Can anyone verify if this is the case for the 2009 MDX? Do I even have a speaker amp since I have the base model?

It is my understanding, that the stock SPEAKER amp accepts a digital signal from the stock head unit (which I plan on keeping).. and outputs it as an analog signal directly to the speakers. After researching, it looks like the Line Output Convertor (LOC) needs to be installed AFTER the amp so that when I turn the volume knob, it actually turns the volume up. [I did some reading and found that the signal between the headunit and the speaker amp is a digital signal, so when you turn the volume up it actually just tells the amp to output more power, which is why the LOC goes AFTER the amp). Can anyone give their thoughts on this?

Thx all
