2008 MDX - TPMS wire snapped at the initiator connection point/clip...UGH!
TPMS light came on about a week ago; didn't think much of it, since the weather has gotten mighty cold, but checked the tire pressure and all seemed fine (32 in all four). Took it in for an oil change, and mechanic found that the wire going to the rear passenger TPMS Initiator Unit snapped right at the point of the connector. Told I'd need a full wiring set-up to the tune of about $750/minimum. UGH! For a stupid dummy light on the dash? To make matters worse, as there isn't much in the way of Acura dealerships nearby (closest is more than 200 miles away), there aren't many 2008's in local salvage yards (where I'd hope I might stand a chance of snagging the wiring set-up before it's harvested for scrap metal). Any thoughts/ideas from experts here?

Thanks! Mechanic actually said if he could get the clip apart or if it had snapped even an inch out from the clip, he might be able to solder it or rig it...so far, he can't get it apart. I've tried the search feature within our local auto salvage yards (supposed to link up with others in network using non-interchange, or something like that), but I'm not even sure what to call the part other than wiring harness/misc electric. Thanks though!

Thanks! Funny thing...there is no damage on my car (no accidents; have owned it for three years now). Just seems the wire snapped. When my mechanic called Acura to get the scoop on it (& when he was told I'd need a whole new wiring set-up), the mechanic at Acura agreed it's kind of a dumb design & somewhat exposed to issues...Acura mechanic has seen this issue frequently (shouldn't it be somewhat "crash-proof", especially if there was no preceding "crash"...HA!). I'll post again if I can find an easier (& less expensive!) fix. Thanks again!
