2008 Acura MDX...driving with removed propeller shaft?

Hello everybody
I live in Germany so my English is not very good. I hope you understand my question or my problem.
the propeller shaft of my Acura Mdx 2008 is damaged. My question is: Is it possible to drive with a removed propeller shaft without damaging anything?
I don't get any parts for the vehicle here and have to import them from the USA first. The shipping time is about 3 weeks and I can't do without the car that long.

best regards
Darius

Hi!

Hard question to answer.. I believe the car is able to drive with SH-AWD disabled this means you wont be in AWD but I think the propeller shaft still moves the differential oil pump to lubricate the diff when not in use? I hope someone can chime-in with more specifics on the subject but my first guess is you "could" damage the diff by removing the propeller shaft altogether and drive around.

You should be okay to drive it without the prop shaft. We do this a lot to verify vibrations related to that part or to rule it out. Just note it'll be FWD until you get one back in. Shouldn't set any codes either!

As I mentioned to you at MDXers in the beginning of the week: yes, you can. You will even continue seeing the system sending torque to the rear wheels as there is no feedback from the rear diff back to the ECU to report the propeller shaft is missing. I would go easy on it while you are waiting for the new propeller shaft.
