2007 MDX HID bulb replacement!
2007 MDX HID bulb replacement!
Hi guys, ive been trying to replace the hib bulbs for days now but im kind of desperate. I dont know how to get to the bulb. Some says i should remove the bumper, some says i just need to remove the air filter box. So i dont know. I need some opinions, and some instruction or photos would be great. Thanks guys.
Here is my DIY: https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-2g-m...change-941131/
If you got any questions feel free to ask.
And No the only thing you need to replace them is your Hands and a Pair of new Bulbs... Nothing else...

You don´t have to unplug the battery or ballast just put the light switch in the OFF POSITION and get the bulbs swapped quickly.. I have done this plenty of times without unplugging the battery.
The Ballast has capacitors inside so If you are that Anal about safety then you will have to unplug the battery and turn the lights ON, this will discharge any current left. Make sure you have the Radio Code and NAV Code because you will need them if you unplug the battery and Yes the memory seat will be Erased.

I found it faster and easier to take the battery out to replace the HID on that side. It took me forever with the battery in because it was an extremely tight fit for my hand and arm (palm a basketball size hands). Having a good flashlight and a mirror to double-check the clips is also helpful. Just make sure the long colored grounding rod that runs the entire length of the HID bulb is pointed down towards the ground for installation. The HID will seat easier and the clips will attach the first time if everything is aligned properly.
I also had to adjust my HIDs up a little bit once I installed the new bulbs. I guess-i-mated and adjusted to same height as my RDX. Looks 10X better in brightness, width, and range with the new OSRAM bulbs.

thank you for that. Another question for you. Sorry i couldnt send any more messages. If i dont pull the ignitor out how can i reach the bulb? Or you mean just turn it counterclockwise and remove it and reach for the bulb and then put it back on, just dont unplug any wires right?
The small wire is a blade type conector and because of the angle and space if you pull the ignitor too far out you will unplug it.
What I meant with "don't pull too far" is that some people grab the ignitor and try to almost get it out of the housing to make way for the bulb... That small grounding wire will not allow you to do this, at best you will have the ignitor rest on the Plastic Housing of the headlight but you wont be able to get it out of the way completely. So you will have to fight the ignitor while trying to remove the Bulb! is not hard but it will be a royal PITA if you are not careful and you unplug the Ignitor Ground wire.
The ignitor has a long fat cable which is their main source of power and a small grounding wire that connects to the Projector Metal Housing..
