I've an 2001 MDX and just moved to the Denver area and not sure who to trust when it come to cars. It seems that the transmission is slipping. It would go to 1st and kick into 2nd but that is it. It would act up when I put the gears in reverse first. I'm seeing that people putting tones of money into having it fixed but it's not fixing it. So now I'm not sure what to do. In this economy I really cant afford to have just put money out there to just have nothing fixed.

if you haven't changed the tranny fluid in a while i would suggest that be your first attempt to fix it.

My tranny went out in my '02 (113K), called local Japanese car shop and asked for recommendations since they do everything but tranny. They said they take all their work to a recommended tranny shop, so I dealt directly with tranny shop and left it there for 3 days. By the time I was done it was $3k with a 12 month warranty or 12k miles, aslo replaced rear engine seal while they had it apart (otherwise another $600 down the road), so a little piece of mind, dealership quoted me $7k.
