07 MDX Bubbling Grille Fix

Hi Everyone,

I have and 07 MDX that i just purchase. I noticed the grille had some bubble with it. I'm thinking of painting it but has anyone painted thier grille and took the aluminum textured part out?

I just wanted to know if it's easy to remove. If not, I might just have to buy a new grille.

Thanks

I noticed that on my 2007 as well... It's ridiculous. Maybe there is rusting underneath and we can get it fixed under the rust warranty?

When I paint grilles, I sand it completly down then seal with an epoxy primer to prevent future problems and prevent rock chipping.

Did you remove the foil like coating?

I wish Acura had a recall for this. It's annoying knowing that is a known issue for the 07-09 MDX and they don't do anything about it.

I plan on contacting Acura Customer Relations department on this matter. I've owned 4 Acuras (3 currently) and I find this completely unacceptable. The 07 MDX's fit and finish is horrible compared to the 2003 that I owned for 8 years. There are loose plastic pieces, moldings, etc all over the car. Didn't fully realize this until I did a thorough interior detailing (I wasn't the primary driver of the 2007). Makes me somewhat regret buying the 2011, hopefully they have fixed all those problems since the first new model run.

Keep me posted. I never had any problems with my 2006 TSX. I've seen some other loose parts on mine too. Headlamps on the driver side pops out a little bit. Checked the Screws and Taps and everything seems to be in place. I will take out the fender cover and see if therre's something loose on the bottom.

I think I might just end up doing the same. Maybe experiment on the old grille. I found one online for $140.

Mine was changed under warranty this past December for ZERO dollars. There IS a TSB on this announced in 2008 I believe. No RECALL is needed as this doesn't warrant HARM for human beings.....RECALL's are ONLY issued if there is potenal for DEATH.....This grill is pure cosmetics related......
