Switch from Z1 to DW1?

Does anyone know when Honda/Acura made the switch? I'm curious if the 08's had Z1 from the factory?

Oh I agree completely! I was just curious if my transmission has ever had that crap in it at all.

Just trying to help you out, you don't need to make a thread for a question when it was asked in your other thread...

To give you peace of mind just do the drain and fill its honestly not that difficult if you have the basic tools.

^agreed.

sounds like you're scared that there is a few tiny particles of z1 in there.
the only thing you can do are drain and fills.

drain and fill a few times and you'll be good to go.

Thanks for the advice Due! I'm new here, and any advice is greatly appreciated. I've done drain/fills many times... No problem. Curiosity just got the best of me on whether it's ever had Z1 in it at all.

A new ATF will be available for 2011 models in mid-July. Honda ATF DW-1 is the new transmission fluid that helps improve low temperature performance. Initial shipments will be arriving at your dealership soon. Please begin using ATF DW-1 on all 2011 AT models. For AT models 2010 and older, you can continue using Honda ATF-Z1. Future communications will be sent regarding the supply of ATF-Z1 and ATF DW-1.

Info from Acura TSB 10-020: 2011 RDX: TQI and New Model Information

Source: Google (time spent about 2 minutes).

Z1 and DW1, I was like wtf? Having a manual trans all I know is AC Delco synchromesh friction modified.

I change my trans fluid every 25k miles. Does anyone know off hand what the recommended interval is?

Sorry, to get off topic a bit.

I hear ya! After reading all the bs people go thru with ATs, I wish I would have gotten an S with the 6MT! My last car (Accord) was a 5MT, and I've always preferred a manual trans. That's what I learned to drive when I was 10.
