Side Motor Mount Bolts Stripped and Fixed

I noticed the rubber on the side (passenger) motor mount was torn when I was changing the spark plugs on my new to me 2008 Type S. Unbolting the aluminum bracket from the block, one bolt came out normally and one was already loose. Swap the mounts fine, go to reinstall the bracket and both holes are stripped. Awesome. I thought about a helicoil but thought an even easier solution would be to just drill straight through the bracket and put a nut on the other side. To do this without removing the timing belt you need a drill with a long drill bit, either a 3/8" or the factory 10mm. I picked up a 12" long dewalt 3/8" bit for a whopping $12 at home depot. Drill straight down and make sure to clean up all the chips. I used a shop vac to get most of them and then an air gun to blow all the others away from the belt. Used two 3/8" x 4" long grade 8 bolts (or M10 x 1.5 - 100mm) and washers. Thankfully there's enough room underneath for a combination wrench to hold the nut and your hand if you don't have the mount in yet.

The old motor mount was completely busted so I'm not sure if the mount went and that stripped the bolts or if the bolts were stripped causing the mount to fail. I thought I'd add my fix here in case anyone later is searching for this problem. The pic is of the mount and bracket (aluminum triangle) I'm talking about. The holes that were stripped are the two on the right.
Now my ride is a lot smoother than before and the 1800 rpm vibrations were cut in half.

my side motor mount broke and somehow the support bracket broke off the engine due to broken bolts. IDK what to do. The side mount and the top bracket have been removed and I cant even remove the support bracket that attaches to the engine because the broken bolt doesnt even have enough space to slide out. It bumps into the frame where mount sits

Congrats! You did the right thing - turned a threaded hole design to a through bolt design.
I did the same thing with one of my LCA fork pinch bolts and lower fender bolts.

Nice idea. I was at Acura about to order this part. For some reason the bolts took the threads. I'm definitely gonna do this on the weekend. Thanx man

Rk5n, you are the MAN! I have the same issue but with only the rear bolt. Drilled the hole with the 12in bit and sprayed a good amount of WD40 silicone in the hole so the threads come out softly and you can pick up slowly. Also got the 3/8 - 4in bolt, washer, nut, and locking washer so you wont need to use the combo wrench at the bottom. Just Torqued to spec from the top and all is well. Thanks man!
