How much should I expect for a rear bumper replacement?
Got rear-ended on the way to work this morning. Surprisingly minor damage—it appears that it is limited to the rear bumper, which will probably have to be replaced, but there's nothing loose or hanging off the car or anything. I suppose I can count my blessings on that. The other driver was a foreign woman and had no insurance info or anything with her; whether I take the time to pursue it with my carrier will depend on what the auto body shop gives me as an estimate. I may try to get out there at lunchtime today, or else tomorrow, but in the meantime, anyone have any sense for what it costs to replace a rear bumper? I recall the front bumper being in the $500 to $600 range, including the labor to paint it.
Thanks in advance.

if it's only the bumper cover, you can order one on ebay for about $220. and the painting is a simple job, should NOT be more than $400 since all they have to do is prime and paint it. good luck

I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago. The cost to REPLACE the bumper was in the mid $700 range. Luckily I was able to get the insurance of the driver that hit me to pay for the repair with no problem. They also paid for 6 days rental!
I wish you the same luck, the repair came out awesome. There is a special 3 stage paint process that includes the flex paint which brings up the price to the above.

Sorry to hear about the accident.
Unfortunately the same thing happened to my car. The total cost to replace the rear bumper was $678.
This was at State Farm labor rates, NW Chicago suburbs, and through a dealership.

The cost depends on what needs replaced. Earlier this year I had the bumper on my TL repaired. Only the bumper cover needed to be replaced and painted. It cost me $300. If the whole bumper needs replaced, then at minimum, double that as noted above.

Thanks, folks. I decided to go tomorrow instead of today since I'll be out that way anyway. I'm guessing it's going to be the whole bumper. I'll try to post a picture tonight if I can, but I won't be getting home until late so I may not have the chance.

If your bumber has no torn holes or punctures in it, they should be able to smooth out any creases, buff it up and repaint it without replacing the entire bumper. If that's the case, you might be looking at 300-400.

I'm going through the bumper replacement as we speak. The guy, whom I trust in quality job, but not necessarily in fair price, quoted about 1k (he suspects that the whole bumper assembly needs to be replaced). I'll leave the car on Monday (01/29) and was promised it will be ready by Wednesday - Thursday. Let me know if you are interested in the details.

I guess the cost for replacement will depend on the amount of damage to your car. My car was rear ended recently and there were a few small punctures on the bumper cover. It look really minor. But after having 2 different estimator access the damage, it was also discovered that my left exhaust was damaged a little and some of the internal structures (i don't know the technical terms for them) had to be fixed/replaced. Luckily, the other party's insurance company paid for the entire repair, including my car rental.
So if it's just replacing the bumper cover, then the cost might not be much. But you should have a reputable bodyshop that worked on a lot of Acuras look at your car for any additional damage to the structure, as a safety precaution.
