Premium Raybestos Rotors made in China

I needed the front rotors for my truck, and they have 2 models. One is 39 and the other is 49 each. The guy said the difference is that the expensive one is made in USA or Canada. the cheaper one is made in china or other countries. I got these rotors before and they were made in Canada, top of Raybestos, PG Plus VSM. When I received my rotors, the labels show made in china. I spoke to them and they have no idea why these were made in china. But from looking at them, on the outter hub, it is power coated black, and they said those are the right rotors, the cheap ones are not being coated like that. These Robestos are labeled Advanced Technology, they look nice. I tried to get the best rotor from Raybestos to avoid being made in china, and they come made in china.

Anyone got these Premium Rotors made in china too?

Premium and China should never be in the same sentence.

Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with it. If Raybestos claim they are top quality rotors, then expect them to be.

China makes a lot of crap. Inferior design and manufacturing processes that are highly questionable. But it also make some decent stuff as well, and even a few top quality items for domestic manufacturers. Hell, I bet a lot of computers we use to access this forum and the televisions we watched last night were manufactured in China.

It's almost impossible finding stuff these days that are NOT made from China. Personally, I will not support their economy if I can avoid it. Not to generalize, but their products are crap, working conditions suck, and lack of human rights make me want to barf.

I agree for the most part. However, you all have to remember that the US companies who contract these products out to China are the ones who come up with the specs. So if they're crappy products, it's because the US company accepted that way.

The Raybestos Advanced Technology rotors are pretty good. They actually have the OE vane configuration and the correct metallurgy for the application. I wouldn't worry about the Made in China part.

I had Raybestoes 2 times on my Accord never again. i had a local mechanic put them on. 1st time he put on the cheaper set. with rotors. squeeled and shook like hell. took it back with maybe 300 miles on rotors and pads.
he put the american set on (he paid for them) shook and squeeled again. again put 300 miles on them(about a tank a gas). then i told him put Honda OEM brake pads and rotors on. it was fine after that.

Which model pads did he use? I bet the problem was caused by the pads and/or his shitty installation.

He must have used the cheaper pads. I know a lot of mechanics that use the Raybestos premium line-up without problems.

Premium & China?
Hmmm ... didn't they say the same thing about Japanese products 25+ years ago? And how many people here have no problems buying things from "them" now?

Bash on China all you people want but just like everything else, they'll get better. The rest of what I was going to say would be better left in Ramblings > Politics & Religion section.

Back on topic ... the brakes you bought should be fine ... so as long as they are built up to spec. You also have warranty from Raybestos since you bought from a authorized reseller, right?

If they work, & perform like you want, who cares where they are made?

They were bought from Kragen. As long as they were built up to the specs, I wouldn't care where they were made.

It has 2 yrs warranty, but I just want to buy the right parts and forget about warranty. Labor and time are what matters to me.

They can sell a no name water pump or timing belt for 5 bucks each, MTBF is 365 days, with lifetime warranty and see how many people willing to buy it. I guess it is not worth it to take out a timing belt or bump and exchange for a new one for free.
