While I understand where you're coming from, soft tops were always less thrilling or as 'hardcore' to drive as their coupe or hardtop counterparts. However, I've always liked and loved the idea of top-down motoring, one that added a few sensations to the driving experience. Not only do you enjoy the car's exhaust note even more, but it's exhilirating for those of us that rarely see the nice weather. Our little Miata has been the perfect example that even if it's not the quickest ride, it returns a lot in terms of driver satisfaction.

And I want an F430 Spider too, Yummy.

Edmunds Comparison - 2009 Infiniti G37S vs. 2010 Ford Taurus SHO

Edmunds Comparison - 2009 Infiniti G37S vs. 2010 Ford Taurus SHO

Ford's new sports sedan takes on the benchmark.

http://www.edmunds.com/insidel...el..1.*

1st: 2009 Infiniti G37S - Still has all the right moves at the track, but this latest G37 has been fortified with equal parts of tech and tinsel.

2nd: 2010 Ford Taurus SHO - Impressive engine, clever features, bold styling, and yet the resurrected SHO isn't sharp enough and costs too much

SHO seems like it would be a nice car...but for $44k and still not have all the options?? Ford can keep it...they're stepping into established territory with the likes of infiniti, bmw, lex...etc with a mediocre...
i'll also take the G8 over the Ford, if the G8 hangs around

lets see them put that 3.5 TT into the base V6 mustang

ppl who are interested in G37 sedan will not even consider a ford Taurus as their alternative...

2010 updates

http://www.nissannews.com/newsreleas...1?mid=4&id=793

2010 Infiniti G37 Sedan
In 2009, the Infiniti G Sedan added a new, larger 328-horsepower 3.7-liter “VVEL” V6 and available 7-speed automatic transmission, along with available sport brakes, new 18-inch wheels and numerous other enhancements. The G37 Sedan continues to be refined for 2010, with a number of additions and refinements to the exterior, interior and model/option package content.

The 2010 G37 Sedan is available in four models – G37 Sedan, G37 Sedan Journey, G37x Sedan AWD and G37S Sedan Sport 6MT. Its strikingly seductive exterior continues to be defined by its sleek wave form hood, signature G-style taillights and raked A-pillars and athletic stance – along with new front and rear fascias, new grille, new headlight treatments and redesigned 17-inch wheels for 2010. Inside, the G37 Sedan offers a crafted, heritage-inspired interior environment and luxury features such as standard leather-appointed seating and an available audiophile-quality Infiniti Studio on Wheels™ by Bose®.

The G37 Sedan’s advanced engine combines with the second-generation FM (Front Mid-ship) platform – featuring a 4-wheel independent suspension with lightweight aluminum components – to provide responsive acceleration and agile handling. The G37x AWD adds Infiniti’s “intelligent” ATTESA E-TS® all-wheel drive system.

Advanced technologies include standard Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition and available RearView Monitor; a touch screen Infiniti Navigation System with XM NavTraffic® real-time traffic information and 9.3GB Music Hard Drive (XM® subscription required, sold separately); Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS) and Intelligent Cruise Control with Preview Braking.

The 2010 Infiniti G37 Sedan goes on sale in January 2010.

That Taurus SHO front end looks much better and much more agressive than the G37.

Maybe so, but it's the Taurus' size that kills it for me.

That's a matter of perspective. Depending on the actual interior volume numbers (which I don't know off hand), If you were looking for more space you'd think the size of the G would be bad compared to the SHO.

Of course. I'm also not the big tall American male that the SHO is sized for, and the G is the right size for my 5'6" height. There's an MKS in the parking lot right now, the size is similar to the Taurus, and that sucker is huge.

Overall length, width and height of the Taurus SHO dwarfs the G37's, and therefore so does the interior passenger volume and cargo capacity. It might surprise you to learn, however, that most of the size advantage the SHO enjoys over the G37 is found in the dimensions of the backseat and the trunk (the Taurus' trunk measures 20 cubic feet, some 7 cubic feet more than the G37), and the front-seat accommodations are remarkably similar.

But you would also be correct in assuming the inevitable result of this sizable disparity is that the SHO's as-tested weight proves to be greater — in this case 684 pounds greater. That's like loading up the G37 with two NFL linemen
I think the G37 is a winner in my book.

i am assuming that either 2010 or 2011 will be the last year of this bodystyle. i am hoping the 3rd gen G will look better than the current, but let's hope they don't use the overly done FX front headlights and wavy grille, which i don't really like.

2010 Infiniti G25 - Headed for China

http://auto.qq.com/a/20091015/000027.htm

No information on this really, other than it previews the 2010 refresh for the G-Series sedan. It will use the VQ25HR (220HP/194LB.FT) with 7-speed auto. Not sure if the G25 is headed to North America, but it seems like it is headed to Great Britain/Europe. Might be a smart choice if it can really achieve 38 MPG, or even better with a manual transmission.

damn, I just noticed someone said the SHO weighs 4400 lbs! OMG! My FX45 weighs that much! Yikes! If they can strip some of that weight off... it'd be even faster!

I cannot understand where the extra 700lbs comes from. A 2009 A4 Quattro is about 3700 or so. It's about the same size as the Taurus.

Something doesn't add up. Admittedly, the Audi may use more aluminum than the Ford but 700lbs in savings worth?

I just dunno what Ford is doing there. Especially when for about $5k more you can get an Audi S4 (base but still).

G25 would be a great idea. It would slaughter the TSX in performance and it would probably boost sales dramatically. Perfect luxury car for a down economy.

really? you think the G25 would be kill the TSX? I think it might be under powered (cuz of it's curb weight), and isn't TSX going V6? (sorry if that's just a rumor, I don't follow TSX news)

The TSX has an optional V6 engine now, but still has the I4 standard. The TSX is a porker of a sedan. It's really heavy for it's size (its the same size as the G now btw). The G25 would have far more horsepower and torque, and looks like it might have better gas mileage too thank to the DI.

I dunno. I don't have any specs in front of me but I think the Taurus is physically much bigger than the A4. It is a full size family sedan which makes it curious that IL would test it against the G37 in the first place....

I agree. In this case a comparo between this and an M37/45 might've been more leveled. That would have been interesting.

I think the G25 would be a good stopgap for Infiniti until they come out with a smaller RWD model to fill in their lineup. The TSX is no featherweight in itself, and a few years back MB stuck a 3.2 V6 in their S-Class, so it shouldn't be a problem in this kind of economy where having the biggest, thirstiest engine in your car isn't the most PC thing. I could give a rat's ass and if I were going to get a G, it would have to be a G37 coupe, but still.

Holy shit, well that explains it. I thought I read they were the same length.

There's the problem. The Taurus is enormous. It's more like a Crown Vic than the previous Taurus.

Now, if they'd put that 3.5TT in a Fusion ...
