hey, manitou, I'm trying to make the blue under dash lights brighter, but I'm having hard time to put down the under dash pannel. Could you lend some help on that?
BTW, I got the idea from this guy's thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/4g-tl-2009-2014-123/make-under-dash-lights-brighter-783070/ But TSX seems have different design from his TL

ive tried a couple kind of led's for the license plate lights... (both 194's)

one was an overpriced led from pepboys..
---it was mismatched color, lasted about 2 weeks

second was a bulb ordered from superbrightleds.com
---it worked for a moth or so, started flashing (strobing)...

anyone had a long lasting set of bulbs?
trying to duplicate the lexus IS250/350 clear white..

any help would be appreciated...

just finished my map lights, rear dome, and door courtesy lights- literally took less than 15 minutes and looks great. So much nicer than stock. Going to tackle the license plate lights tomorrow once the sun comes up so it it easier to see. Did the interior in my garage after dark- seriously- it was super easy and anyone with half a brain can do it!

IJDM toys has kits for the interior- all the bulbs you need in one line item. Cant be easier.

Looks nice but you might blind yourself while driving if you flip the vanity mirror down at night! I think i might just do the license plate, will add a nice subtle exterior change.

aww man that sucks alot. the 1st gen uses a DE3175 instead of the 2nd gen's DE3022.
here a Link that should help a bit.
also you can order from ijdm toys. they are a bit more expensive, but they should get to you faster, and fixur order if there r any parts.

Just in case if people were wondering where to get the LED's for the license plate. I bought these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_2775wt_941
Took about 2 weeks to receive them from Hong Kong. It was actually a week before the estimated delivery time, which was awesome. The only problem I had was that they were delivered in an envelope.....but I got them, installed them and they work. One didn't immediately work, but with a little jiggle it lit up! Probably one of the best and CHEAPEST mod I've ever done.

Hope the picture comes up. First time trying to post a pic.......

I have one (1) extra map light bulb. My gf bought me two pairs off ebay for xmas, but you only need three total for the front and rear map lights.

Maybe I can make the conversion cheaper for someone, and someone help me out by not having an extra bulb laying around... How about $3.43 (half price of two) with free shipping?

How do you turn off the lights beside the vanity mirrors when changing the bulbs? If I change them without turning them off, I am afraid it will blow a fuse.

If you're that worried about it,
1. Pull the fuse;
2. Remove the mirror from the car (and in doing so, disconnect the mirror from the power source); or,
3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Thanks manitou1, your post on the first page about the license plate lights helped me out tons.

On a side note, I ordered my license plate LEDs three days after I did my fog lights and the license plate ones arrived, fog lights are missing. Strange.

for the license plate you have to check all the pages in this thread. the procedure is detailed here by someone already with pics. grab yourself a small flathead screwdriver to pry the black long bar off

for the foglights in order the change the bulb, which is all you will be doing, you will find instructions in the tsx owners manual.

the led's in that picture look pretty bright probably because of that camera but keep in mind that they wont look nearly as good when you put them in in person, in my humble opinion. it will look decent if it is a multi led bulb. Also i have tried A lot of plug and play varieties for the fogs. I tried single led units from warren_jp on ebay, i tried sylvania silverstar ultras, i tried PIAA bulbs, and overall i wasnt very happy with any of them. the PIAA and SSU definitely are better than the leds imo but the best thing overall has been a ddmtuning kit. It converts your fogs to HIDs. google them.

anyway regardless since im a newbie too ill share my beginners tips for you for changing the bulb: work with lots of light underneath so you can see, i usually use two screwdrivers, both flathead one large one small, using these you can stick the small screwdriver in between the two black circles on the clips and wiggle it and then pull it out using both together. the manual is not descriptive at all on how to remove the clips. after that bull back the fender lining stick your hand in grope around (with gloves on) and follow the instructions in the manual. good luck

getting around to swapping my lights to led. i purchased leds from warden_jp2002 before on my 06 si but found them to always have a hint of blue and not be more white like you would find on a lexus. swapped those out with some i ordered from superbrightleds.com and couldnt be happier. might be too bright/strong for some cause you can see it shine down to the ground a bit but it didnt have a hint of blue like the ones from warden_jp2002. everything costed right around the same price if you were to get it off ebay ($60.00 ish)

heres a pic of the warden_jp2002 leds on my si. (unfortunately i dont have an updated pic with the superbrightleds but i'll update when i get the ones for my tsx in)

I recently installed iJDMtoy's interior LED kit (maps, dome, and door lights). I really like the look; I've had no problem with the color hue...

Buuuut, my wife took her car in for routine service and was given a 2010 TL SH-AWD. Really nice car for a service loaner, I was pleased! The one thing I noticed was that the interior lights are LEDs but they are a completely different hue than that of my aftermarket LEDs in the TSX. Does anyone know why this is and what is available for purchase that would match the hue of the TL? It's definitely more white than all the LEDs that I've seen which call themselves "white"; either cool or warm.

I hope someone as a good answer, I'm really curious! I won't change the bulbs I've already bought for the TSX, but maybe for our other car b/c I really liked the TL's color.

The led's in the TL are not SMD like the aftermarkets are

If an LED is not SMD (surface mounted device), what is it?

I believe the light may be a run of the mill LED, but the reason you are enjoying the light more is because it is in a special LED housing and the light is passing through a diffuser.

the diffuser/housing could be producing the softer glow that has captured your heart. In the tsx we are tossing LEDs into halogen non specialized housing.

^pulled that out of my ass but its a thought
