yeah it was completely gone. only thing i can think of was i didnt tighten the bolt on the bottom bracket tight enough cause that part and the damper itself were gone when i checked. the top bolt and bushings were all still there though. im surprised i didnt hear it fall out or something. sucks...those things arent exactly cheap either.

I am gonna try to attempt to install the front one. Anyone got any info on removing the stock one. Do you just remove the top part and the bottom screw or do you have to remove the mounting bracket also. I have been turning the top part to try and unscrew but thats getting nowhere.

You don't have to remove the bracket. I know that for sure. I remember clamping a vice grip somewhere below the top of the bracket. Then the bolt on top was able to back out. I'll be in my garage today I still have the oem dampers I'll take a look for you.

I already have one from when I first bought my blower. Anybody in the tristate wanna help me install them? So the blower has to be taken out to install one of them?

x2. Just use a vice grip or wrench to grab onto the nut underneath the bracket while you turn it with the socket.

Blower would have to be removed for the front one, unless you have some small hands or can get to it from the bottom somehow. Haven't tried the rear one but I dont think you need to remove the blower for it.

Im considering replacing both front and rear dampers, Since I've bought my car i've always had a severe vibration issue from the engine...Took it to Crown Acura (Richmond, VA), and they couldn't give me a definite answer that the engine mounts were bad, they dont appear to be leaking..

However I can physically move the rear shock mount from left to right, and have attempted to tighten it....Im praying that replacing both with aftermarket NRG dampers will resolve the vibration, sometimes when im in first gear the engine is shaking so much, it will pop out of gear! I would assume becasue the engine has so much movement.

I truly hope I dont have to replace any motor mounts, but I do have 190k on my CLS6 and Not positive if they've ever been replaced

Any input is appreciated!

I was browsing through the energy suspension pdf above, and on page 11, the bushing at the bottom right, part #9.9148 red in color seems it could replace the original bushings, it also appears to be flat instead of rounded top like the black bushing to the left of it....Im afraid my oem bushings may be so damaged I wouldn't be able to resuse them...

Opinions and thoughts...

92-95 Civic is what Im running. Part number NRG-EDA-101.

I got mine from RobearRacing but the prices went up. I paid $63 each, its now listed at $85.

If the vibrations are that bad, your mounts are bad. Ive gone through 2 sets of mounts already, and the last set was poly-filled.

PS - Crown Acura sucks.

Tip for those that have issues with the damper staying tight - use some teflon tape on all the bolts. Mine have been like that for nearly 2 years and havent budged since.

Tell me about it, once I solve the issue myself, I'll go back and explain to them what the issue was....I know for a fact they probably didn't even look at it...I basically paid 70 dollars for nothing, the service advisor basically repeated everything I stated to him initially!!

LoL they even had a sign up stating every car in for service receives a free car wash....lol my car was filthy

So once the service advisor gave me my keys, I went outside walked up to another Anthricite metallic cl, I was like well at least it looks better...tried to open the car...wouldn't open, looked inside and it was a damn auto....

Had to go back inside the dealership and wait another 20 minutes for them to locate my car, they pulled it up, and it was still filthy....I thought to myself what a waste of money and time!!!!

^ How the hell are all you guys losing your dampers? They just magically disappeared. lol I bolted mine on like 2 years ago and haven't thought about it since. Like Civic recommended teflon tape can't hurt, but I didn't use any and I still have both dampers in place.

Ivan- you don't need any extra bushings, if I remember correctly they came with 2 sets already. Red and black, don't recall which color were the stiffer ones. You will need to pick up 2 bolts and a bunch of washers so that the bottom heim joint doesn't move around too much. There's a pic in this thread with a perfect look at what I'm saying

guess what, my motor mounts are going bad I think, there's a noise that sounds like it from the engine bay. I'm going to have my mechanic check it out. In the meantime, what are my options? Anybody making the poly filled mounts?

As of now, no. Unless you want to go with Innovative (I highly suggest you dont).

I would say best bet is to buy new oem ones and poly fill. Other options are keep replacing with oem or wait for a company to make them which might never happen. You could lend your car to a shop and have them use it as a test fab vehicle for custom mounts.

Another good idea for anyone considering using these nrg dampers.
However now we have new motor mounts coming to market, which means to install them the dampers have to be loosened. Just went through this last week. Probably don't want them installed in a permanent fashion until the new motor mounts are installed. Just my for anyone interested in doing both mods.
And distorted, where you been? Sold your car? Really liked your posts and diy's.

nyloc nuts will do the same thing (maybe even lock washers might do the trick also)

but yes loctite is the easiest/cheapest method though

at first i just did the front one and thought that one made the most difference then did the rear just so i would have both but after i did them i had no wheel hop.

I got the NRG ones off ebay but when i bought them they were only 70 a piece the thing is with these you have to do alot of playing around to get them to fit just right and they will come loose so you gotta watch them and tighten everything back so you dont have them fall out like some people haha

wow, well, if its a half ass install, then i dont wanna do it.
plus, everyone is replacing the stock dampers, arent these supposed to be an addition to the stock ones? i see them installed where the strut tower is at on some vehicles, which is an addition to the stock dampers, so whats up with that i wonder?

the ones they are talking about in this thread replace the stock ones the ingalls that had a group buy for is the one that mounts on the strut tower. It basically upgrading the stock ones to a lot stiffer ones.

well, maybe ill buy the kit that goes on the strut tower and will have more luck with that. i wonder if it would still be for the 95 civic though like these are?

np man glad i could help and btw i have all three of the dampeners and still have wheel hop but not much i think the last step to eliminate wheel hop is to get the poly mounts.
