Power Window Problem

I'm having a problem with my auto power window on my passenger side. the only thing that I could find was hwo to reset the window, either I didn't do it right or it didn't work. My problem is that the window when I go to use the auto up it goes up a couple of inches and then rolls back down. Sometimes it goes up half way and then goes back down a little. Also sometimes it will go up all the way. It seems that the problem is most present when it is cold out.

My passenger window is doing the same exact thing! Don't know if the weather has anything to do with it though.

same happens with my passenger window when using the auto roll up. I found though the auto works only when it's already about halfway up. Idk it's not that big of a deal for me and I'm broke so I haven't really cared to get it fixed lol.

It's happened to me on several occasions ... same thing you all talk about. I only noticed it happening after I got my windows tinted, so I figured it had something to do with the moleskins being so snug on the window but it's only the right front ... no other windows have a problem?

There is a service bulletin about this problem. It basically says its either gonna be a window strip and/or window regulator. I've got a new regulator sitting on my toolbox waiting to go in. It runs somewhere around $100 or so retail.

Here's the intro I found on Alldata:

January 11, 2008
Applies To:
2004-08 TL - ALL

Front Door Glass Reverses or Makes Noise When Going Up
(Supersedes 06-031, Front Door Glass Makes Noise or Stops When Going Up or Down, dated September 1, 2006, to update the information marked by the black bars and asterisks)
*SYMPTOM
When going up or down, the front door glass stops and reverses, shudders, or makes noise.

PROBABLE CAUSE
There's excessive friction in the glass run channel caused by the door glass inner weatherstrip, or there's a problem in the door glass regulator.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Depending on the diagnosis, replace the door glass inner weatherstrip, the door glass run channel, or the door glass regulator.*

Have you guys tried this.......

Auto Roll the window up and apply a little pressure downward, the window will stop rolling up and go down a tad. This is a safety feature.

You mean the windows won't chop your kids hands or heads off?

The window binds up due to a bad regulator, tight weatherstripping etc and the "safety feature" kicks in ... already determined that.

I think if you try it again, it might fix the problem. This has been an issue for me multiple times. All I do is depress the "down" window button the WHOLE way, and for about 2 extra seconds continuously after the window has been rolled completely down. Then, I depress the window "up" button the WHOLE way, and for about 2 extra seconds continuously after the window has been rolled completely up. It works every time. Maybe you didn't hold down the buttons, going both ways, long enough?

I have a friend who has been at Acura for a very long time and he said the window issue happens alot, thats why there is a new part number for the window regulator. Its suppose to be a relatively easy fix. If you were in GA, I'd help you replace the regulator.

Same here...and sometimes my driver side does it...but not nearly as much. I can say that having the annoyance, at this point isn't worth changing the regulator, to me. I got some guidance though.

This is all information I found when I asked for a solution to this on acura world .com, so search for it if you want more in depth.

The quick and easy solution...I ordered some shin etsu grease (ran me 20 bucks with shipping and a new pack of crush washers) from handaaccessories.com . Then I took off the door panel and pulled back the white plastic liner and with my pinky and a glove, ran shin etsu grease up and down the rubber channel, making sure to get it all the way in. Sure enough...the window goes all the way up ALMOST every time now. Before I was lucky if it went up 10% of the time...now, every few weeks it'll snag, but otherwise, shipshape! Good luck...the other thing you are supposed to do is loosen the 2 bolts holding the glass and make sure it's sitting far enough back, lube up, and retighten.

GOOD LUCK!

^Nice find! Thanks for this info. I haven't had this happen again for a while (knock on wood), but I will definitely try this.

Rockstar, Do you know how to troubleshoot the window regulator? I had the passenger fr replaced in 8/2010 @32K mis along with the channel and weatherstrip (tsb 06-031) but I think it went bad again. Dealer says that window may be stuck but when I press button, I hear clicking but no movement. Putting pressure to have window go down while depressing button isnt working so I dont think its stuck. Is there a way to check power to regulator motor? Any suggestions? Thxs.
