So my wife was on her way to GA on Thursday when she hit a large piece of metal that was in the middle of the road. I'm not sure what it was but it looked like it came off of an 18 wheeler. I tried to post a pic of it but it wouldn't load. Here are some pics of what it did to the oil pan. She had the car towed to Sutton Acura in Macon and they had the car done and out the door the next morning. Excellent service and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Anyways, on to the pics:

Here is a pic of the piece of metal that was just left in the middle of the road!!

Woww that just straight destroyed your oil pan, must have been a huge piece of metal. Question are you lowered at all? I know my friend in a slammed Accord always busts his oil pans but hes practically scraping on coilovers and I've never seen his break as badly as yours was.. Glad to hear that it was fixed in the quickness though.

No it's not lowered at all. It was just a huge chunk of metal. The good thing was that as soon as she heard the bang and saw smoke she pushed in the clutch and shut it off. It could have been worse. I'm just glad she didn't keep driving and blow the motor up!!

When she hit it it just KO'd the oil pan and shot out the back. It actually didn't hit anything else on the way out though. She was driving 70-75 on I-16 in Dublin, GA.

I also concur. So many people would've just kept the motor running, glad things worked out and no one was injured.

I used to go through an oil pan at least once a year... just by normally driving through NYC...

Glad your wife made it out ok and the motor was saved...
