Hello everyone I am happy new TSX owner with lots to say

Hi everyone, great welcome. I'll start this off by pasting up a little writeup of my experience during my Acura 2008 TSX /w Navi shopping in the bay area.

As you guys probably know the '09 came out a couple months ago, this seems like a great time to buy a 2008 if you don't mind the 2009's sexy new exterior and USB link.

Stevens Creek Acura Dealership:

I called in the day before I was planning on purchasing my vehicle and spoke with Michael (not the British one, who was pretty friendly pointing out some car features outside). Michael with firm resolve would not give me any price quote whatsoever over the phone, informing me that any other price quotes given by all the other local dealerships over the phone were not finalized and are therefore very likely to raise in price once I physically visited the dealerships. He then concluded by telling me to get proof in writing and that he would beat the price.

The following day I went to the Stevens Creek dealership and spoke with Michael in person. I told him I was ready to buy the car and asked for a quote in writing. I told him about the price quotes I heard from the other dealerships and asked for his best price, he once again informed me that the over the phone price quotes were inaccurate. Then he hands me a quote for $33,900, to which I replied that all of the other 3 local dealerships had already beat the price yesterday by $3,000-$4,000 difference over the phone (this was true). At this point Michael apparently began to get frustrated and kept on repeating that I should have brought in written proof of the price quotes from other dealerships, and was resolute on not haggling for a lower price until I brought price quotes in paper. I was not there to persuade Michael to sell me the car, so I thanked him for his assistance and left. One other detail which surprised me with my experience at Stevens Creek and Michael was that he guaranteed the other Acura dealerships in the area did not have the colors I was looking for (White on Parchment, or Black on Black). This was obviously not true because I had just left the Sunnyvale dealership where Anthony showed me a list of all the TSX colors left in stock, and both colors were still available.

Anyway I ended up buying the car at the first location I went to in the day, Sunnyvale Acura with a good dealer by the name of Anthony. During the phone call the day before as well as the vehicle introduction and test drive at the dealership, Anthony was patient, thorough, and comfortable to speak with. His detailed explanation of the car's strong features and unbiased comparison to the 2009 model were easy to comprehend for a beginner. Anthony didn't just read me a list of the car's features, but instead pointed everything out while giving demonstrations and examples. It was obvious he was a passionate car enthusiast, and intimately knowledgeable about the 2008-2009 TSX and navigation system. Buy cars from him.

After the test drive I was very impressed with the car, and we began to discuss the price. Sunnyvale Acura was the first dealership we went to that day, and while I felt the price quote given was already decent, Anthony understood that I wanted to shop around for a cheaper price. Without sounding desperate or imposing, he told me to give him a call before I bought the car elsewhere (which I did)

With this writeup and the possible actions taken as a result of it, I am:

A) attempting to rally support for getting Anthony a raise
B) get Michael a salary deduction

I love my new car!

Let me understand this......a dealer actually quoted you $33,900 for an '08 TSX?!

Are they insane??

I'm assuming that's with tax, too, but even still.... lol.

Sounds like you did what I did. We ended up purchasing 2 08 TSX from McGrath Acura of Westmont from Mike Miller last month.

Anyone looking to purchase an Acura in Chicagoland area should contact him.

OTD was $29,400, 2 other dealerships could beat $29,500, but I was content with this amount and didn't do any more bartering.

Welcome to the family, but I think you could have bartered a little more. I got my 06 brand new from Sunnyvale for 28.3k OTD.

Anywho, it's too late, and as I said, welcome! I hope you have many safe and fun miles with her! Enjoy!

Speaking of mats, the best indication that the 09 TSX is roomier than the 08 is that the dealer put the OEM allseason mats in my new 08. They didn't even come close to fitting...either front or back.

Since my salesperson delivered our 2nd car personally, he just grabbed the wrong box of mats from the parts dept.

Go with the OEM all-season mats, they are great. Search the internet, you can find them for a ton cheaper than the dealer will sell them to you, if you didn't/couldn't get them to throw them in when you bought the car. I like them I'll probably just leave them in the car during the summer too, no worries about washing out dirt/mud from them just hose 'em off.

The stock mats are pretty thin and flimsy, to be expected when they are included with all cars now, this wasn't the norm for Honda until I think around 2000ish. My 98 didn't come with them, and since the stock mats weren't included in every car, they were much thicker and better quality.

I went with weather-tech all season mats and like them very much. They were cheaper than OEM, and are very good quality. The don't say "Acura", but you know, they're mats...
