Liking my TLX so much I bought one more!
Been enjoying my black TLX SH-AWD so much since picking it up in November that I went back to the dealership today and bought one more, this time in white. Will be picking it up on Saturday.

Haha....I'm so not a fan boy. Actually, the car has really been very good. And for the price, it's really hard to beat. Fortunately I haven't experienced the issue you're referring to.

You only bought *one* more? I just bought THREE more on Wednesday - might pickup a couple more this weekend too.

I can only drive one TLX at a time.

I'm obviously presuming because I don't know the details for the trade, but one thing that baffles me is when people buy a car based on an economy mass market model (like your 2012 TL SH-AWD), giving up material, prestige, luxury, and performance for Honda reliability and resale value, then getting rid of the car for another economy mass-market model (TLX) with the same sacrifices. Therefore, you essentially negate the reliability and value of a Honda (if you keep a car for 3 years, even the most wretched Ford will serve just fine).
If I were to switch cars every three years (or lease), I would totally skip over a Honda/Acura and go straight to a Lexus GS or an Audi. Why even mess with a brand/model whose primary strength is that it's mostly an Accord? As long a the car doesn't strand me on the side of the road during the lease, I'd be just fine with it.
Just my 2 cents, and also how I feel about my TL, which I love for its Accord genes (how you can really go wrong with a sport Accord?). But, then again, I bought the car to keep for a while as a commute car, which is precisely why Honda reliability is a real strength for me.
Anyhow, congrats on your new TLX!

Then the TLX came out and I thought I'd give that a try. Turns out it's pretty good. Then I went to see my doctor the other day and her office is near the dealership so I stopped in just to poke around and see if there was any further news on the new NSX. They had a white TLX there and it looked quite good. I wondered why I didn't consider a white TLX when I bought the other one back in November.
Anyway, I asked if they'd want my 2012 TL SH-AWD which has only 16,000 km on it and they said sure. So I got a white TLX now to complement the black one I already have. Call it impulse shopping if you have to. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who does this sort of thing.

You misunderstand. The TL was bought as a beater. After buying it and driving it a bit back in 2012, I came to realize it really wasn't to my liking. So I just put it aside and kind of forgot about it.

If I were in the market for a new car and I didn't already have my 4G, I would definitely take a look at the TLX, too.

His and hers? Congrats, enjoy them both!
Are you thinking you'll be an all Acura family once the NSX is released? What's the latest from the dealer?
I'd imagine most are going to be sold sight unseen.

I'm not entirely sure what I bought a second TLX for, but maybe it helps me jump the queue for the NSX! Haha...(wishful thinking, I know.)

Unfortunately my dealership said they will likely only have an allocation of two NSXes in the first year. They already have about 50 people on the list that continues to grow. So my chances of getting one in the first year look slim. But you never know.

Hopefully I can trade the RS in on a 2016 NSX in another 5 years or so......this plan is not wifey, or accountant approved though. Lol

The TL feels heavy and unwieldy. The TLX feels more nimble and light on its feet. There's also a lot of buzzing and droning sounds in the TL compared to the whisper quiet TLX interior. I like the multiple settings for the seat warmers compared to the on/off only switch on the TL. And the rear seat warmers are a welcome touch which I've missed from my Audi sedans in the past.
Overall, there's just a greater sense of refinement in the TLX compared with the TL.
Here's a crappy picture I just took of the two together in the visitor parking at my relative's building. Will try and take some better ones soon.

I would have great difficulty trading in a B7 RS4 if I had one. I remember running with them in my C63 and the RS4 was quite simply phenomenal. But if you must do it, the 2nd gen NSX would be something worth trading it in for.

Wait....50 people at one dealer in line for a $150k+ NSX? That's nuts.

Oh, I forgot to mention and maybe it's not clear from the picture - I didn't buy the body kit for the white one like I did for the black one. Perhaps that's why you guys think it looks better?

Do both of the TLX have the same motor?
Congrats

I'm done hating on the TLX. I've seen a few more around and I think the car looks great, beyond a few minor gripes I have with it. Hopefully Acura gets all the reliability problems sorted out and this car goes on to sell even better than the 3G did.
Congrats on your purchase, OP. That's awesome to see!
