With 2017 ILX already released, is 2017 TLX coming soon?

I saw that Acura has released the 2017 ILX. I hope the 2017 TLX is coming soon. If they put better tires/wheels on the TLX 4 cyl models, and improve the crash test ratings, I probably will buy one. I have been looking at the Accord and Subaru Legacy, but prefer the looks of the TLX. Both the Accord and the Legacy currently offer more safety features, which hopefully will no longer be the case for 2017.

I noticed inventory of the 4 cyl TLX Tech model is very low at local dealers. This could be a sign they are getting ready to change over to 2017 models.

Possibly- seems like A-SPEC could be possible in the 2017 TLX whenever it comes out. I'm not sure I would want the suede seats though but the other items are good.

OP the wheel design offerings on the TLX are very low grade. They are borderline Kia and Altima level. 3G wheels and 4G (except '12-'14 base) are eye-catching. TLX, you hope to not have it catch your eye.

You can always get new rims, super easy, not a reason to not buy a car. And increase safety rating? I know my v6 advance is 5 star all over are you sure the 4cyl is not?

2017 RDX is out as well, just had one as a loaner. The RDX, ILX have been on a spring cycle for a few years now.

I'm guessing we won't see the TLX until the fall. The 2018 is the MMC, and it's been selling okay, so I don't think Acura is going to do a hell of a lot with it except maybe Apple Carplay/Android Auto and offering some of the Acurawatch features on lower models. But that's only speculation.

not likely, '17 ILX is basically a carry over, no changes if any. the later Acura introduces '17 TLX the more likeliness we'll see some significant changes.

I hope they change something with the '17, the '16 was a carry over so I don't understand why they would do that two years in a row especially with the Accord being almost a better option on the 4 cylinder option.

IMO, the 4 banger TLX is a pretty good bargain. I've mentioned before a reasonably equiped 4 cylinder TLX is prices LOWER than a maxed out ILX.

The 2017 TLX will be much of the same. I am thinking by the mid model refresh they will bring over the Apple/Android integration from the Honda Accord. The current infotainment performance is HORRIBLY slow. I don't even use the voice commands... only works 35% of the time for me, and I speak normally and distinctly.

The wheel choices for the entire TLX lineup are bland. The sizing of the 17 or 18 wheels/tires is not up to par with the performance/handling - particularly with the V6 version. The wheel wells are quite large, so upsizing is no problem. I think a standard wheel/tire size of 245/45 R18 would be just about right. That's a popular tire size (18"), and replacement tires are not terribly expensive. (19" is considered an odd size, and replacement tires are ~20% more expensive in a comparable size.)

Look for the MMC TLX to be released March of 2017 with a new aspec model with its own front and rear bumpers. no slapons. and yes it will have the new grill and exhausts pipes. im hoping for a bit on the horsepower but at least a more aggressive suspension setting for the aspec. 2018 Type-s will be released and it will have nice jump in power.

My 2016 tech has 5 stars across the board. Its "SAFE" to say....
Wheels is a easy accessory to change out

Also you are correct about the 2.4 tech with low inventory. My dealer told me I purchased mine in good timing, the black 2.4 tech is very hard to find right now. Mine just arrived at the dealer couple days b4 i took delivery.

So it's pretty much May and you said the car would be released in March. Sounds like you know as much as we all do about it...

i was shocked when they said march for the 2017 tlx mmc. then again its mostly cosmetic and it really needs it. pentagon grill, exhaust tips, and an aspec model is a good start. type-s in 2018 will be awesome.

I don't doubt it. A march release for a 2017 model seems awfully early though, doesn't it? Maybe if it was August or something...

TacoBello....A late March for a MMC is not unheard of. I got the 2012 TL (MMC) in the early spring of 2011 so a 2018 MMC released in early 2017 is very plausible.

I am surprised the Type-S will not be available at the MMC to really inject life into the TLX. For me, I would have guessed that if the Type-S would not be made available at teh MMC period, it would be at the FMC....But Nexx seems to suggest otherwise.

A Type-S in 2018 (calendar year) would coincide perfectly with the end of my lease for my IS350 but I also know I could get out of my lease early if I wanted.

I'll admit I didn't much like the wheels when I first saw them, but I've come to really like them now:

The dark portions of the wheels match my Graphite body color almost exactly.

Interesting. So they're moving the MMC up by a year, essentially letting it run for 3 years (like the 4G). Makes sense if they think it's significantly better than the current version, or how it should've been from the start.

Delaying the Type-S a year very likely means they're working on new drivetrain components, or at least something that has yet to be tested in another model. So offering an A-Spec to tide us over initially makes sense, and also to provide a lower cost of entry into a sportier variant.

This is pretty much what they did with the 2nd gen TSX & 4th gen TL. The ILX and TLX are following almost the exact same release route.

March 2008 - New 2009 TSX and TL released
March 2011 - MMC 2011 TSX and MMC 2012 TL released
Sept 2014 - New 2015 TLX (New ILX 2013 / MMC 2015)
March 2017 - MMC 2018 TLX and New 2018 ILX

I, for one, will be happy if they truly do replacement ASPEC bumpers instead of the stick on pieces. Hopefully, there will be a suspension & tire upgrade.

I think that the new Honda/Acura 10 speed is a DCT....but my memory could be off. Google it and I think that there is a review from someone who did a few laps at a track. Very little information released.

update: I just checked the articles online and I could not find DCT or planetary anywhere. But I thought that I heard DCT somewhere.

If they wait till 2018 for type s TLX (2019 model), isn't TLX FMX coming in 2019 as 2020 model? So will they have this type s for only 1 year and have FMC which will have significant changes?

Unless engine/transmissino are not ready, there is no reason for TLX Type S to delay. May be RLX FMC will come in 2017 and it will have new engine/transmission first..

Off topic but was there ANY talk about what's coming next for the RLX at this meeting?

MY2017 should be the MMC year for it as it's the fourth year of it's run.

just something on the lines that the RLX is not what it should be and that they are working on it. someone did bring up bringing back the legend and integra name. Jon said if we had the right vehicle and right time he would have no problem with it.

Nexx - what about transmission for MMC? Will TLX get 10AT or will continue with 9zf?

Quick Reply: With 2017 ILX already released, is 2017 TLX coming soon?
