Photo editors come inside! Need to resize a picture for Kenwood nav boot screen.
I didn't know where else to put this, but since it has to do with navigation and radio stuff I figured this is fine. Mods, if this is wrong feel free to whatever you have to do.
This isn't for my Type S, but my daily driver 04 Grand Cherokee Overland that I recently installed a new Kenwood DNX571HD. Awesome unit, but they didn't make changing the splash screen easy thats for sure. So far all my attempts have failed and just show a really screwed up image. I am using an OEM style Jeep logo that I already have, but cant get everything done right especially since I dont have photoshop. I have sized it correctly at 800x480, but still isnt working. It shows up and is selectable, but when you boot up the image is completely screwed up. if you can manage to get this done correctly then if you can email it to me that would be greatly appreciated! jamespowles@yahoo.com
Thanks
Here are the instructions I found on another website:
The instructions are the following.
Image formatting information
1) File Type needs to be Bit Map
2) Pixel Size should be 800 * 480, but you need to first set to 921 * 480
3) Picture does need to be crushed during finalization, from 921*480 to 800 *480, as it will get expanded when loaded
4) You need to use a dedicated image processing application such as Photoshop in order to be able to make the right settings and save in the correct format.
5) Save as 16 bit Full Color BMP and the setting of RGB of R5,G6,B5 is very important
6) Windows Applications like Paint cannot be used to make the BMP as the settings for the RGB and picture crushing cannot be done with that application.
Here is the imagine I want to use:

Some more info I found:
"You need a freshly created bitmap. the size has to be 800 X 480 ( exactly ).
The file then has to be saved as a 16 bit bitmap with and advanced RGB setting of r5 g6 b5 (exactly) RGB565
this can be found in the advanced settings when you select save as in Photoshop.
you have to clear the flash drive of any files and just put in the new bitmap that you have created. Plug the flash drive into the unit via USB and go to the splash screen using the access sequence I gave in a prior post.
It took me a week to get it exactly right.
Good Luck ... you will get it eventually. "

Alright, made a 800x480 16bit BMP RGP R5G6B5 according to the second post you made. Not sure about the crushing part in your first post.
Uploaded in a zip file, just extract and your bmp's there.
Anything else just ask. Take a second really.
