Lightbulb Add-A-Circuit Tip

Don't be like me. Don't waste an hour wondering why you aren't getting any power on your new wire.

When you use add-a-circuit, make sure you have a fuse in both spots of the unit, otherwise you will get no power on the wire for the new device.

Yesterday I was trying to install my Escort Passport 8500 x50. I installed the add-a-circuit device into #29 on the fuse box (the IGN OP1 - free for owner use). I only put a fuse in the spot for the new line, since there is nothing hooked up to that spot normally, there should be no need for a fuse in the other spot, cause it's not being used for the car. Well it looks like you need a fuse in that other spot, which acts like a pass-through, otherwise there will be no power on the new line. Would have been nice if the instructions/box mentioned that!

If no one else does it, I will try to post a picture later. I got mine from pep boys, and it's made by littelfuse . For our TL, you'll want the MINI version (ATO is a bigger size and won't fit).

The link Canadian Mike posted shows the unit in action, and here's what the instructions and (opened) box look like:

Cost is about 10 bucks
