Repairable vs Totaled?

Delivered to the collision repair shop and now awaiting their repair appraisal. What do you all think?

2007 TL-S with 75k miles

Speaking as an insurance adjuster, I would say that's repairable, unless the center pillar needs replacement.

No airbag deployment, the impact was at less than a 90 degree angle and some of the energy from the hit was displaced when the rear end of the car swung around. I estimated the speed was around 20mph? The front passenger door took the hit from the right front corner bumper area of the other vehicle and as far I could tell the undercarriage/unibody rail did not seem out of alignment. The B pillar is possibly damaged(note dimple in the roof, above front door top corner), can't really tell with the doors on the vehicle.

I found this user with a WDP TL that had a similar side impact and was repaired:

I will keep the thread updated with information when I receive it.

You really can't know until an appraiser gets a close look at it. There could be all sorts of damage that's not obvious to the untrained eye and without digging into the car beyond surface level.

Value for your car is around $11K retail. Normally its between 50-70% of repair cost of the value to total out a car.

$250 - Repair/Replace RIm
$300 -Paint Rear bumper and mudguard
$1200 - Fix dimple and repaint 1/4 panel and upper pillar
$650 - Rear door used replacement (if found), Add $200 for paint if found in dif color)
$650 - Front door front door (if found)(Add $200 for paint if found used in diff color)
$150 - used sideskirts
$800 Frame repair to B Pillar + Misc supplies

Estimated total damage: $4000 with used parts, maybe $4400. New parts are going to be much more and require paint. Depends on if you want to keep the car for the future or take a check and buy something new.

My 07 looked similar when it was totaled. Estimate came to 12k. Apparently the rear glass has to be removed which bumps up the cost of repair significantly is what i was told.

Btw, cdn

Thread update: Insurance estimated repair at $9,500 and declared it a loss mainly due to repair of the B pillar.

Now to decide on another Type-S or a newer model G37S 6MT...

Insurance gave me exactly what I paid for it($13,000) so I took the check. I'd absolutely love another Type-S but a 6MT is like trying to find a damn unicorn(took me 6 months). If Acura hadn't butchered the beaky-looking bastard child of a Buick/Cadillac(my humble opinion) known as the 2009+ generation of the TL I would have gotten that no questions.

As of now, I'm looking at the G37S MT or the newer Infiniti Q50S. Any other suggestions or input is much appreciated.

$13k, man, you could almost buy Rockstar143's coveted TLS 6MT in KBP... I think he's asking around $17-18k for it, but it's heavily modified...

I like youre TLS, CBP, one of my all time favorite colors, simple, clean...

It's all stock, right?

but like Thoiboi said, this place is full of 3gen and TLS 6-speeds... Go check out the black market... it's a great place to shop around, but you'll likely have to travel for one...

I wouldn't mind traveling, I drove 3 states to pickup my CBP TL-S. Thanks for the tip about the black market, will check it out.

agreed there's a ton of 6mt models on the black market right now. no idea where OP is from but like he said, i'd be willing to also drive for a car i loved (hell i even flew up to San Jose from San Diego to buy my car back in 2008 sight unseen, even though it was new so slightly different situation)

Damn, super sad...
I loved KBP, but believe it or not the color that always grabbed my attention was actually the carbon bronze.
Good luck on your hunt to replace your baby, man...I'm very sad for you and I know the feeling of losing a car to a total.

Thanks J, appreciate the sympathies. I've decided to give it one last try to find a decent Type-S and then I'll look at other options.

If you're not in a rush, wait to find what you need...
although I am sure if taking the bus and riding your bike are your alternatives, you might not have the time to wait.

You seem like the type of guy I would have been happy to sell to.

Although I did say I would try to find a G37 or something else, you know I just couldn't resist the urge for another Type S so today I finalized on the purchase of a NBP 6MT TL-S with 52k miles, will post some pics up soon. I am also going through the million page XXR 530 thread and am set on those wheels with a mild 1-1.5" drop, just have a million and one questions on how to get that set up without rubbing problems, etc.

After a head-spinning amount of reading the summary I got out of that thread was 18x8.75 +20 offset with 225/40/18 tires will clear brembos and won't rub with mild drop. I'd love to replicate ACE32TL's setup here: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-t.../#post14406690

I am considering H&R Sport springs for now(1-1.5 drop) on Type-S non-Aspec suspension.

Even with stock waffles I think a mild drop makes the car look better and loses the '4x4' look:

Last update to this thread.

When I purchased my NBP TL-S to replace the one totaled in this thread, I went and bought a Carfax report. However, I fat-fingered it and accidentally ordered 5 reports and did not realize it at the time. I figured someone on Azine is in the market for a car and could use it so if you're looking for a free Carfax report($39 value), PM me and I will be happy to oblige I would like to limit it to one report per person(unless there are few takers) and the expiration is 10/30/2016.

No problem, I still appreciate the input! I've got a set of Continental DWS06 and XXR 530s on some Fedex truck somewhere. Today is the H&R Sport spring replacement(fingers crossed).

You're gonna get in trouble for that Carfax post...
they treat it like you're selling a dead hookers body full of cocaine on a public site...
although I've made that mistake and offer before and appreciate your intent!

What made me annoyed was when I was on the Carfax order selection page, the single Carfax option was the top item in the list but on the second confirmation page the order was for some reason switched so that the 5 page report for $20 more was now the first on the list. Of course I should have paid more attention but it seemed like it was intentionally set up that way to get a user to accidentally order the pricier option
