Add Navi to non navi tl

I was wondering if it's possible to take the dash from a 2g tl with navi and put it in a 2g tl that did not come with navi. From what I am able to acertain is that the only difference is the placement of the climate controls and the addition of a screen.

I had this same question when I bought my car in May. From the reading I did, it's possible, but not worth it. You have to swap in the screen unit, the plastic dash trim, the climate control knobs, etc. Then, you have to wire that all up, including steering wheel controls. Then, the kicker is that the NAVI runs via a DVD player that's mounted in the trunk. So, as well as putting the dashboard parts in, you have to pull up the carpet and other interior trim, and run wire down the footwell into the trunk to hook up the DVD player.

That's a lot of new parts and a lot of labor to end up with a pretty outdated GPS unit. More realistically, you might consider pulling out your factory head unit and replacing it with an aftermarket Double Din unit. There seem to be a lot of examples out there with touchscreens and navigation that is probably better than the 13 year old OEM unit. If you go that route and you're worried about fit and finish/appearance, you can also buy this kit that includes mounting brackets for the aftermarket unit, and a plastic trim piece that will fill in the extra space in your center console. https://www.amazon.com/Metra-95-7868.../dp/B0029TJK5G

Here are some options out there: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...003+double+din

I also made a thread asking for recommendations since I've been thinking about buying a double din unit myself: https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...ations-953030/
