You are better of with 9 or 10" dashboard stereo unit with carplay/android/front dashcam/backup camera etc.
I have few CHEAP units (2024 generation) and even cheap ones work good.Only thing I did not test is backup camera on request feature (when you have it while driving).
Wireless carplay works good (my complaint is that heats up phone) but it connects always automatically, scrolls OK,cameras are ok but you need to get 1080 backup camera instead of older 720 (some still sell those units).
I mounted on windshield just above vents.I also have Pelsee rearview mirror dashcam 12" that has great 1080 backup camera (only issue is glare from sun and headlights at night when too close to car).
Much better then doing entire headunit as people complain about issues with controls not to mention these standalone units can be replaced regularly as they improve.
They even have unit with Android running for $160 or so with front and back camera.
These new units are way better than previous year. Like I said I have CHEAP ones (Originally $120,I got them for $60 locally) and they work good.

They did not put resolution of cameras but I assume it is 2K and 1080 but have to double check.

I can officially say that they are all junk...none of the androids interface with the proprietary software in the RL, and the co.panies who are putting these out know it. They put out junk for hard to find cars like ours and then bullshit you through the return process... I've been discussing this with several people, to include tl owners who worked around their version of the software. Without a dedicated programmer, you're just not going to be able to get it to work and keep climate controls and the top display.

I've had to put my rl on the back burner until I get my house organized, but as soon as I get my little workshop built, I'll get back on this fast and furious...no pun intended.

Look up my progress in the audio part of this forum. To summarize: it's obvious that without some major programming, you'll have to keep the stock head unit and route your android in pass-through to the Amp, likely through the xm2 channel. Until programming catches up, you'll need the stock navigation screen to see the climate control status, adjust audio settings and a few other key functions, such as the radio key code.

My idea for that was to relocate the stock nav screen into the bottom of the center console, so that you could just open it when you needed to go through menus. A small display could be setup with less to show a/c status based upon the hvac wiring that is external to the radio.

All "logic" takes place in the stock head unit, so it is currently irreplaceable with regards to input to the Bose Amp (data line instead of direct connection, so you cant just plug and play into the amp. All sound has to route through the head unit unfortunately to be processed properly for your 10 speaker system) and the HVAC functions.

Expect to lose your money if you buy one of those units. They're a scam. Cost me $600 to find out.
