Timing belt or chain?
#2
Maintenance chapter of the 2013 RDX Owner's Manual, page 273, refers to replacing the timing belt.

This V6 is not what you would think of as complicated, its a single over head cam system.
Chain or belt, dose not have much significance…. a belt is noticeably more quiet then a chain
Regardless this power-train is not susceptible to timing issues, replacing a chain or belt for this engine is relatively easy and in the long run an unavoidable maintenance procedure for any high milage motors.

^K series used in the TSX and the RDX are chain driven and should last the life of the motor. J series V6 used in the 2013 as with any other acura/honda are belt driven and should be changed out at one of the following
105K (older ones)
A4 Service comes due in the MIDS (newer ones)

Question to those who have investigated this - has anyone confirmed whether this engine valvetrain is an interference design, whereby if the belt were to break, valves then strike pistons and damage occurs? For those unfamiliar with this concept, there are (or at least were at one point in time) engines designed whereby if the timing belt were to break, valves do not strike pistons at any time in the four combustion cycles.
