Air conditioning problem

1996 3.2 TL
The air conditioning quits working when the car gets warm.
It works great for the first 5 minutes that the car is running, then stops blowing cold air. It still blows, it's just blowing hot.

When this happens, the compressor is not engaging. If i turn the system off while driving, wait about 10 minutes, and turn it back on, the AC will blow cold for a few short minutes.

If it's cooler outside (like 70) the whole thing works perfectly.
I checked the low side pressure while the car was still cool, and it seemed to be within spec, I think. 65 outside, the gauge showed 45psi, then drops to 25 as the compressor engages, and then raises back up to 45.

Anyone with some AC history have any ideas? It's been close to 90 for the last few months, and driving in a dark green car that has sat in the sun for 8 hours is no fun.

Your reading seems off. Please provide ambient tempurature, low side and high side pressure readings. All taken at the same time.

Chart below for reference. Veh uses R134a refrigerant?

It turns out that the compressor relay was failing. Replaced the relay last week, and havent had a single issue since...other than the air being freezing cold now
