A miter saw work work best, but I just used my jigsaw. Leave about an 3/4 inch on all sides (incl. top) for room as you add layers of fiberglass and resin. During the wooden dowel build, connect everything with hot glue. I have a nice glue gun with different temp settings. If you get some on the carpet, its comes off fairly easy after drying.
