Tell the world a little bit about your vehicle
Ah yes, GM vehicles of the 80's. Uneven body seams, sloppy welds and ill fitting plastic bezels. It's all here in my 1986 Buick Regal T Type.
With only 56k miles, this cult classic has survived the years nearly unmolested. When I purchased the vehicle, it still had the original dull finish of the single stage lacquer paint. Glance into the cabin and you'll quickly be taken back in time. Rectangles and squares is what this interior was designed on. The dash is made of sorrow and grey vinyl. Molded into the finish is threaded stitching made to look like it was actually sewn together.
Under the hood is a 3.8 liter turbo charged engine. I know it's a turbo engine, because like in typical 80's fashion, turbo badges are plastered all over the vehicle. At idle, the pushrod GM 3800 series almost has a lopey V8 exhaust note. Press the gas pedal and the turbo spools up quickly. Putting out 235 peak horsepower while sounding like a beefed up vacuum cleaner.
To some of you that may not know, the T Type is the exact same thing as the Grand National. The T came is various colors and extra options like bench seats. The GN is just black, with painted bumpers, different badging, two tone seats and steel wheels. This particular T Type is the rarest of the Turbo Regals including the GNX. Only 463 "Designer Series" Regals were produced and 1986 was the only year they were available.
