But TBH not too much else going on over here. ZDX is even more rare than a Wagon : thumbsup: Today I changed the oil and put the OEM rear bumper applique on. Was a big day LOL Bought the replacement door panel Color is correct http://www.pbase.com/robpp/image/167999604.jpg http://www.pbase.com/robpp/image/167999605.jpg rear bumper protector http://www.pbase.com/robpp/image/167999606/medium.jpg http://www.pbase.com/robpp/image/167999607/medium.jpg Oil filter wrench and drain plug wrench http://www.pbase.com/robpp/image/167999609/medium.jpg New 14 mm crush waher http://www.pbase.com/robpp/image/167999610/medium.jpg Cargo area led http://www.pbase.com/robpp/image/167999612/medium.jpg FilTech A01 OEM HONDAHOND FILTER http://www.pbase.com/robpp/image/167999613/medium.jpg Mobil 1 5w-20 http://www.pbase.com/robpp/image/167999615/medium.jpg Proper wrench 65-67/14 http://www.pbase.com/robpp/image/167999617/medium.jpg Mileage is 68050. |
new car inspection said needed new sway links to resolve slight jiggle noise
Rock Auto Moog Problem Solver $52 for pair delivered. Remove need 6mm Allen and 17mm wrench. These aren't for everyone as they require grease service every once in a while. install is 18mm socket and 19mm open end yo hold shaft . Then some grease and I had some rubber caps that don't fit right but on until I get something better https://www.pbase.com/robpp/image/168014476/large.jpg https://www.pbase.com/robpp/image/168014475/large.jpg |

Yep. Mine wore out around 55K miles. Rattling heard in the front end when going down a bumpy road.
I think the rear ones are next, slight rattle in the rear when going over something like railroad tracks, just haven't had a chance to check them out. Next up for me is Coolant change. I'm debating to touch the hoses and thermostat too....or figure those can be done with 100k service. |
No pictures but to keep my documentation up yo date....
Today did coolant drain. Both radiator and engine block. Block is 12mm and you need 1/4 ID hose to drain. Removing wheel makes it very easy . Filled with Honda Type 2. |
Driver door panel replacement.

New rear sway links
Moog . I also drained and filled the differential. About 2.75 qts of Honda DPSF. 20mm washer on fill plug 18mm on drain plug http://www.pbase.com/robpp/image/168082945/medium.jpg |
Christ almighty,
firstly, you know your fuckin maintenance...gonna assume you're a tech or were in your past life. Secondly, damn right for loving the ZDX. I had one as a loaner long ago and although it's not for everyone, it's a futuristic spaceship that you rarely ever see...cargo space is no worse than my vagon so technically it's practical as hell for what it is. I'll definitely be following your progress! |

I'll definitely be following your progress! Im a car guy that refuses to pay the stealer for anything I can do myself. An early purchase was a service manual set. Worth every penny. And Im just a backyard mechanic at best. But I do enjoy the wrenching, had many hot rods, classics, Harleys, etc over time. Lastly, Im OLD as dirt//

Judging by the condition of the 68 Chevelle and the large tool chest in the background, my guess a mechanical background or dedicated car guy like most on here. Irregardless, on the ZDX

Gotcha...
well, if I keep going from the age I am now, I should be a good enough backyard mechanic myself. Love your automotive choices...nicely done. |
Today I paid to have the brake fluid flushed. Wanted them to look at the noise in the front suspension
i replaced front and rear sway and some noises went away but not all Said the found a loose front left lower control arm. And same wheel, the metal clips that holds brake pads was missing. Pads were flopping around. Noise gone. And check off my last maintenance item: Brake fluid DONE |
I was never happy with the yellow laminx on the fogs when lights were off. So I removed it and bought some 2700k LED H11 fog bulbs from Xenon Depot. Hard to get s good picture with my phone when on but you get the idea offhttps://secure2.pbase.com/robpp/imag...6827/large.jpg onhttps://secure2.pbase.com/robpp/imag...6826/large.jpg Boxhttps://secure2.pbase.com/robpp/imag...6828/large.jpg |
More maintenance:
New Honda Wiper Blades. Had some crap arms. And I bought an extra set of rubber blades for next time. https://secure2.pbase.com/robpp/imag...5064/large.jpg Next up some Clear .040 LaminX to protect the fogs. I removed the Yellow film, added Yellow LEDs prior. https://secure2.pbase.com/robpp/imag...5065/large.jpg And I haven't installed this yet....need to consult the manual, but this b pillar piece was damaged when purchased. https://secure2.pbase.com/robpp/imag...5066/large.jpg |

|
wow, I really enjoy your ZDX!
|
Still going strong, nice to see you, man.
|
I chickened out and had the timing belt etc done by a local shop I trust.
76,500 miles but in service 8 years. And came from Vegas to here. very dry climate. I might have gone a bit longer but I may do a road trip in October so its done. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/acurazi...c776af4c05.jpg |
being proactive never hurt anyone!!!
Good to see you, Robpp! |
 88,000 miles last week. At 87 I did a trans drain and fill one time and transfer case fluid. Cabin filter.
One note: I LOVE the Stoptech brakes I installed the spring of 2020. Great stopping. Nary a bit of dust after weeks of driving. Got some creaking when I back out onto the street, I am thinking front strut mounts, front struts, sway bar bush. Rear struts. With standard suspension, what are the choices for new struts? Looks like OEM is no more? |
100,000 plus
Hi Nothing much new except I moved. And I used zdx to help me haul stuff. Then the Turkey Rod Run in November. So I did a 3x3 on my trans today.

I saw a ZDX on the road the other day...very cool because you NEVER see them around.
You own a classic, Acura was visionary. |
I'm in Florida since 2020 and I have yet to see another one. I hope they don't reuse the ZDX name on the new electric thing.
|
It would make sense for them to.
I used to see them around, had one for a loaner. I did not like that it was tiny for an SUV...hitting my head on the way in and our LOL...but if you can get past that, it was a cool futuristic looking thing. |
