Traded in my 09 TL for the ZDX

The deal is just too good to pass up. 16K off the ZDX in Vancouver, BC. I can't resist so now I have a black ZDX Base.

For those ZDX haters out there... sorry but I really like the looks of the ZDX. I still like the looks of the TL very much, but I was leaning toward an X6 type vehicle.

One good thing was the dealer gave me top price for my trade in. Anyone interested just pm me.

Hi. I looked at the ZDX, test drove it. Very impressive right down to the leather trim on the dash. No such great deals in NY, however. You can't be stealth in the ZDX. You can't help but look at it. The pics don't do it justice. I'm waiting on my TL to come from the factory. Had to have the six speed m/t.
Enjoy your ZDX!

Congrats on the purchase. I've seen the ZDX in person, and I love it.

wow $16k is pretty significant. If socal dealers were willing to give those kinds of price cuts, I'd be in one as well. congrats!

Congrats.... The ZDX is pretty frickin sweet. A coil-over solution and I'd be set.

I had a blast tooling around in one for a week. Put over 1k miles on it and loved every minute.

I am so sick right now... 16k off really?

I can stomach missing out on a 5k deal or something close to it, but damn... 16k makes me sick and makes it less than the cost of a TL?

Congrats on your new ride. I know we love both our TL and ZDX.

Exactly... I would be sitting with two of them in my garage instead of one of each.

Found this in a post on TOVtech

"Not worth going to Canada (at least not for the ZDX):
- exchange rate very close to a 1-to-1 ratio
- Canada MSRP is $57985 less 12000 plus ~$7000 taxes = 52985
- US MSRP $45,495 but sells at under invoice (per edmunds) = 41,499. plus tax (NY) ~3,500 = 45000"

So, they're just overpriced over there in Canada... Acura is just bringing the price closer to the US price point?

Well I also missed out on the incentives on both vehicles go figure. Oh well that's how it goes sometimes. Still love both of them though

Very striking vehicle...

At least I enjoyed my test drive. It's just a bit too pricey for me.

Wow, smoking deal! Congratz!

Post pics when you can (not that we don't know what the ZDX looks like). I've seen a white ZDX around here regularly. Quite the looker, and definitely not your "normal" crossover SUV.

Correct me if I'm wrong... is the ZDX based on the Accord Crossover? It looks it...

Just had one as a loaner. Meh. Bad sightlines galore along with a tank-like feeling driving experience. No thanks.

It looks like it, but the ZDX is actually based off the MDX.

The retail price for the ZDX Base is $58K in Canada. They took 16K off that. So it's around $42K plus taxes (12%).

First Impressions of ZDX

First impressions:

Pros:
The ZDX seems to be put together very well.
The interior is higher quality due to the vast amount of leather used (center console, door, etc).
The ride is quieter and of course taller.
Power sunshade is nice.
Power tailgate is great.
The kids love it!

Cons:
The blind spot. However I'm getting used to it... in 2 days. It's actually OK now.
Have to hold on to button to close panoramic moon roof.
Adults shouldn't sit in rear seats.
Door handles feel cheap.

I don't understand why the moonroof is only one touch open..... Is it a safety hazard to have it also automatically close??

That was one of the disappointing things about the ZDX when I looked at it.

Other than that, I don't like the fact that the low roofline makes it feel like you're sitting in a small coupe, but you're actually sitting in a mammoth 4400lb SUV that has less room than most sedans.

The front of the moonroof glass on the ZDX is just that, glass. It doesn't have the rim around it like all other Acura moonroofs so it doesn't have anywhere to put the sensors for reopening the moonroof if something got caught. Acura won't put a one touch close feature in without an automatic reverse feature.

I wanted to get a ZDX loaner the other day, but the 2 they had were out. Loaner person at dealer said they are the 1st requested.

I wanted one just to see what the ZDX was like.

OP AlCan does yours have the advance package or the magnetic shocks?

Mine is the base ZDX. I figured I'd save the $10K.

When you put it that way ($10k) almost makes that radar/cruize control and the magnetic shocks sound expensive

When I first saw the ZDX I desperately wanted it, but the price put it out of my range, so I ended up with the TL. However, I did have a base ZDX as a loaner for a week while my TL was in the shop and I came away very disappointed. The interior is generally nice, the leather console impressed me and I liked the way the buttons on the center console were only readable when lit. That's pretty much it for the pros. For the cons, I found the steering and road feel to be abysmal. I thought the TL was lacking, but the ZDX is pretty much the worst road feel I have ever experienced. The vehicle didn't feel powerful, which isn't to say that it didn't have power, just that I didn't FEEL the power. Sightlines were bad, as others have said. This is probably just me, but I didn't appreciate the stock tinting, it made everything seem dim (I've never owned a car with tinted windows). The layout of the center console was a bit annoying and I didn't at all like the way you had to open the lid on the compartment with a button on the side of the console. Space in the rear seats was, shall we say, lacking. I drove a bunch of coworkers to lunch and the guys sitting in the backseat are probably a little under 6', but their heads were against the roof and their knees were up against the backs of the front seats. I was definitely not expecting that from an SUV.

So in the end, I think I definitely did better with the fully loaded TL than a base ZDX. Though I can't really speak to a loaded ZDX, I expect most of my issues would not be addressed by having navigation and adjustable suspension.

I too had a TL (09 Tech). One thing I notice between the ZDX and TL is that the ZDX is better built. On the first day I picked up the TL, I had creaks and rattles in the cup holder area and steering wheel. Then other software glitches like not being able to sync to my cell phone (Blackberry, then iPhone) often the first time I start up the car in the morning. Also some other issues like the windshield wiper motor being really loud. And the roof creaking when I go down underground parking ramps.

I just don't have any of the above issues with the ZDX. Just what a relief. It just feels so much solid.

FYI... the engine of the ZDX demo I had during my test drive wasn't too impressive either (maybe due for maintenance), but my new ZDX's engine has that roar and umph when I step on it.

Nothing against the look of the TL (which I still love), but the ZDX is a better car, for me anyways.

I just took a couple pictures with my iPhone in the underground parking. Sorry it's a bit grainy.

I never thought the ZDX was that bad... I love the ZDX's interior, very luxurious feel. In my opinion.

Good luck to you, I like the ZDX and it could be my next car. I currently have a 10 TL with 6 speed manual.

Best,

its crazy how much rims can make a vehicle...the base wheels on the zdx and new 4g tl are ugly but when upgraded to the larger rims make it look 1000x better....i sat in the zdx and was hitting my head on the liner inside....im only 5'11" so yeah not really comfortable for adults.....nice pick up though

Nice choice. Wish I could see some ZDX's that have been tastefully modded.

You going to be the first?
