Maintenance

The ZDX has about 4K miles on it now. I am thinking about maintenance items to perform.

What do you do for your ZDX after the first few thousands miles?

I am thinking of changing the oil & filter, using Mobil 1 synthetic. Transmission and rear differential fluid change/flush at 15K miles.

Any other suggestions?

dont change the oil until the MID reaches >15% or 1 year
the oil from the factory has an additive to help break in your engine.

Please read the manual that your car came with. it will explain everything.

Your car has 4K miles on it. its still brand new, lol.....
Please read the manual. Please read the manual.

"the oil from the factory has an additive to help break in your engine." I've heard/read that before, but can't find any source to confirm it. I am sure there is some truth, but is there a source?

I am basically planing to maintain the Z like an MDX that I have been taking care of for the last 5 years.

the additive is Zinc!

google search Zinc and engine break in!

as long as you maintain the vehicle like you did the MDX, she will be fine!!

just read the owner's manual and follow the MID. dont' over think the maintenance. the car will let you know. brake fluid every 3 yrs. PS as needed. everything else is dictated by the MID.

the break in oil needs to stay in the engine as long as necessary. ie...when the MID tells you.

OK, will keep the oil until the car tells me to change it. Over at the 3G TL forum, people are more aggressive about changing the various fluids.

TL, MDX, ZDX, TSX...all the same when it comes to maintenance. follow the MID. 3G TL has special needs (at least the AT and maybe the MT, but moreso the AT).

How about after the dealer did a maintenance oil change such as a B2 service, do they still includes an additive on it? My concern right now is my oil life is still on 40% ( i had my B2 service including an oil change last Jan 6 2014 with a regular dealer oil) now Im past 3 mos but still on 40% life, do I need to do an oil change now? Planning to switch to synthetic oil, is it safe?
