Irene

Wanting to hear from other hurricane Irene "ZDX survivors" (if any) out there.
During a very last-minute run for food supplies, I got stuck in a heavy band of rain and wind. Honestly, I was a little scared (for my precious ZDX) with the glass roof. The road I left on became flooded by a nearby creek in less than the 30-40 minutes it took me to finish my errand -- thus, I was cut off from getting back the connecting road to my house. I crossed the road anyway (I know this road well), despite the fact that an unfortunate stalled car was already sitting in the water. Carefully, I nudged the ZDX through the flooded road and foolishly got out in the rain/wind to take pics because the ZDX took me across a little over 6-7 inches of water (C'mon, how could I not want to capture this moment?). This was based on how much of my 19" wheels I could see at the deepest point. Unfortunately, my point and shoot camera got rain-soaked and ruined. The rain was so heavy at that point that it was near-zero visibility, even with rain-x on my windshield.
I admit it was a bit reckless.... but, big kudos to the ZDX and it's capabilities. A big cheer goes to it's 7.9 inches of ground clearance, too.
BTW, for the rest of the storm, my ZDX sat safe and sound in the garage and air-dried. Now that it's sunny again, it's due for a claybar and wax job.

No pics. Camera was soaked thru - by the time I got to a position out of the car to take pics, the cam kept shutting down and eventually stopped working. Sorry.....

I'm gonna sound like a grandpa here but you were way more than "a bit reckless". ALL THE TIME you hear about people who cross flooded rivers in their cars who get swept away and either killed or rescued by live-savers who put their lives in danger for these folks. If another car had already stalled out and the rain was so heavy that just using your camera in it destroyed the camera, you are really, really lucky with how things turned out.

Thanks DJ. You are absolutely right.
BTW, your "feedback" was definitely kinder than my wife (which I omitted from my original post).
