Harddrive/Audio issue
Harddrive/Audio issue
Hi - I'm having an intermittent problem while listening to music on the internal harddrive. The issue arises when I have the system set to the HHD and I want to play the loaded songs at "RANDOM ALL TRACKS". When I push up on the joystick to go to "MUSIC SEARCH" the system responds with
1. a double beep and then
2. a pop up message that reads "Generating Voice Recognition commands......." and
3. the systen reads the above message aloud.
After these 3 things happen the system goes back to the screen I was currently on and continues to play the current song. If i push up on the joystick again the same thing happens. Sometimes this goes on 5-8 times before it actually goes to the search screen where I can then click on play music at random. Sometime it moves from screen to screen correctly.
This is extremely frustrating - Has anyone else seen this and been able to fix it?
This problem started months ago and I took it in to have it looked at. The service team was great and was able to see it happening. They replaced the radio and the harddrive. It took me about a month to reload all my music and now the issue has come back again. I can't believe I could have 2 faulty harddrives. It seems like it must be something else????

I think that must be because the IDS controls are in that space.
I use my current CD changer a lot as I usually burn my own CDs but these can not be loaded into the HDD, so if I get an Adv ZDX I guess iPod will be my friend.

Thanks for the responses. And correct. there is no CD changer in the advance (which is what I have). I did not know there was a CD changer in the others. Anyway you can load burnt CDs in the HHD but they have to be regular CD audio files (not mp3s).
Do you mean only store bought CDs? And not CDs of songs you burned which have regular audio cd files, not mp3s... Err sorry, I guess that's what you said, that's good news...
Do you notice the compression to the files loaded on the hdd? I wish it didn't compress.

I do not notice the compression on the HDD. It sounds exactly the same as it does when I play the song from the CD. Of course you can also play DVD audio and that is pretty amazing. But you can't load the DVD audio in the HDD.
