Going to push for updates to my car
I was one of the lucky ones where the Radio update took (and didn’t fry my radio). What should I tell them to get Android 14 update?
Joking aside, the recall does not clearly mandate dealerships to update the infotainment. But since it is a recall, I feel dealerships will oblige when owners request them to do so.
As usual, frame it as a safety concern with well known issues like glitchy backup of surround view camera.

I'm going to try the angle that only if all the software is up-to-date can we be sure there are no lingering incompatibilities in the software stack, that there is no way they've test my particular set of co-existing software versions, and see what happens. In the end, I'll just be glad to have a functional car with at least some updated SW.

I have to admit the notice from BMW made my panties all wet!!!

Now I have to decide whether to keep the ZDX or not. My wife likes the looks now that I spent some time on the paint and hinted she might want to keep it...

My wife likes our ZDX. We should finally get it back after some 4 weeks in the shop after someone hit us some 6 weeks ago. I think a car that was only produced for 1 year has little retail value and has little manufacturer support, much less when it was in an accident. So I probably will put a clear bra on the front, hood, mirrors and door handles and drive it to the ground. Besides the lack of SW updates, it is actually a pretty nice car. But if you sell your ZDX, let us know what you are getting.
Luckily mine's on a lease. I have an attorney willing to go to court and press for a Lemon Law refund.
After the updates I'm getting a lot less bugs than previously. My wife likes it so we may keep it for the duration of the lease(another 2 years and a few days). So when my new ride makes it to the West Coast, I'll make the decision on what to do with it then.

Ah, ours is actually on a lease, too. We don't like leases but we had no choice to qualify for the $7.5k tax rebate. Our intention was to pay it off after a month so we voluntarily put $5k down (max allowed by the dealership) on a credit card to get points. Of course we paid the CC off. Then my wife changed her mind and wanted to stay on the lease. I think if we give the car back after 3 years, we won't get the $5k back. So we probably will just keep it.
I'm not sure they've even started my car yet. I know I'm not the only one in. But get this: "as you know, this car is built by GM, and we're still getting used to their software systems". No, no you're not. You sold me this car 18 months ago. None of this should be new to you.
Ugh. Does not bode well.

To make you feel better, the software package has been unchanged since January. A lot of beta testers before you, what can go wrong? /s
A simple workaround I found for the Google dark mode bug, in the auto setting, is to cycle through the mode options in the display settings(auto>>light>>dark>>light>>auto) to get the auto setting to work properly.

My ZDX was dropped off yesterday ~ 530P. Surprisingly at noon today, I was shown that the Recall SW update was done. I reminded SA RE: Android 14. Tech told him that my car did not require it so it was not done.
I asked nicely again to have it installed. My SA is cool and said that he would keep the car and when the ZDX tech wasn’t so slammed on Mon that he would ask him again to see what he can do.

My SA took care of me and kept the car another week. Received the A14 and K73 updates and now my ZDX has Android 14.
Glad that everything finally got taken care of.
New Gauge layout is nice. Only thing I don’t like is Sirius XM icon is no longer easy to find. On the default screen, there are 4 scrollable icon pages, but Sirius XM is no longer one of them. Annoying.
