down graded to a bmw....

Hello everyone. Sad to say I traded in my ZDX. Gas in Hawaii is 4-5$ a gal. and was costing me $200-$300 a month on gas. I found a good used 2011 BMW 335i coupe with less than 7000 miles on it.

I will miss all of the lux features and the els sound system the zdx provided but now I save about $100 a month. Insurance gas and payment is cheaper.

Big down grade but it was costing me too much.

Thanks for all the info and help you all provided and I am sure I will be back.

let me assure you that the 335i wont save you much gas haha. the n54\55 engine love to drink lots of gas my 135i average about 17-18mpg. plus 200$ oil changes, $1000 water pump omg the list just goes on but you probably have a warranty. however your fun factor should make up for its thirst and high maintenance. AND hawaii? man your lucky i was there just a few months ago! beautiful place. love from canada.

Pickler,
Are those just regular 'BMW maintenance'?
Those covered in the 4 yr warranty whatever?

I'm thinking to get my wife to change her car with 2012 BMW 328i (the one with 2.0 turbo 4... I know...) just because I like the car (sounds like a Diesel though...)
But we certainly don't want to waste money just to keep up with it.

For others, any thoughts for BMW (reliability hassles, etc)?

bmw and reliability are pretty much opposite))
my friend owned a 325xi while i owned a lexus is250awd, and he had way more failures than i did during 60k miles

the warranty will take care of the costs. but its a pain in the ass still going to the dealership every week. some people are ok with the dealership trips and keep the car. but i got to know the 323i courtesy car better than my 135i until i sold it. im not a big fan of reliability. i like changing and repairing things. but cmon i hate it when my new car doesnt start.

as for 328i, i know the 09+ models greatly improved in reliability. i have no idea about the new 12 models. i have heard that they are made in mexico now. other than that i have no clue.

Thanks man. Yea I hear ya on the gas. I try driving it very light on the gas. Last fill up I got 21 mpg based on the mileage divided by the amount of gas that went in. The computer is not very accurate on the bmw. Thank god the car is still under maintenance and warranty. I will prob get rid of it before it runs out.

It is fun but wish it had torque vectoring awd. It likes to swing its tail out when pushed hard on turns.

Hawaii is great but lots of traffic and no long road trips.

It is a pain in the ass. My bmw dealer doesn't have loaner either. I hear the new N55 motor is better which is why I why i got the one i did. My brother had the N54 and HPFP everyother month. His car was in the shop for a month one time. bmw had to get him a loaner and paid his lease payment that month.

BMW's are not reliable.... I only got it cause I like driving different things every year or so and this one happened to be a steal of a deal.

I miss acura service, leather quality seats, sh awd, els stereo, navigation, cooled seats, reliability (although my zdx wasnt perfect), and style.

My bmw has lots of power, better on gas, easy to park, cheaper payments better resale value than zdx and lower car insurance rates.

If acura builds the zdx with the new sport hybrid I will prob get that next. I am also thinking of the new rlx if its nice.

I love acura and bmw's I will prob be back with an acura next.

Let me know if you have any questions and I will try to give a non biased opinion.

A black over black BMW? That's brave in Hawai'i weather...After living there, I would only buy white cars (like every third person there).

lol...going from ZDX to a 335i to save gas? how much gas are you exactly saving? if money was a concern, shouldn't you downgrade to a car that's actually fuel efficient? even if your payment is cheaper, aren't u financing it longer now? i am pretty sure u lost more money doing this switch after you calculate total cost of ownership...

honestly, my ZDX was getting 15-16 mpg which was pretty good. On my 335I I am getting 20 mpg. drive approx 800 miles a month. At 5$ a gallon this equates to approx $66 a month in fuel savings. I was financing my ZDX at 5.9% for 6 years and traded it in after 11 months. I financed my bmw for 1.9% financing for 5 years so number of payments are the same but the monthly payment still dropped. My insurance is also about $60 less every six months and maintanance on the bmw is included. Not to mention my zdx had 26000 miles on it and my bmw only has 6700.

I lost in the fact that the 2010 zdx with accessories msrp was over 60000 new and my 2011 335i was around 53000 msrp new. so I lost in the value of the car. Monthly wise I am saving money and most people don't think the bmw looks that much cheaper than the bmw.
