DIY Plug N Play FitCamX 4K Front and 2K Rear Dashcam Install

Picked up some goodies on Cyber Monday.
Amazon Amazon

I “practiced" with same mfg that was “newest” version on my 2025 Audi q6 eTron (Mangoaltech).

The FitCamX was a fairly easy install. I used the company install video as pre-install activitiy.

No surprises. (my q6 eTron panels were so tight that they were challenging to remove for fear of breaking some clips/tabs.). Not so with the ZDX.

Then, I tucked all the wires for the rear camera along the headliner on the top of driverside windshield and then in-between the top A pillar interior panels (air bag) and then under the upper front inner driver weatherstrip then to the B pillar top trim edge to the rear driverdoor inner weatherstrip and then finally into the upper trim in the rear hatch area.

The only part of the install that i’m not 100% happy about is that I wasn’t able to figure out a way to utilize the factory rubber wireloom conduit inside the hatch. (I was able to figure out how to do it on my Audi q6). Instead, I ran the wire under the top inner weatherstrip to the center top. I did remove the center upper rear hatch plastic panel to at least tuck majority of the wires inside using the plastic trim pry tool included. The only exposed single wire was the top center weatherstrip that freely runs to under the center inner plastic trim panel.

Otherwise, very happy with the ease of installation. The app is a little quirky since you cant have wireless CarPlay on in order to connect dashcam to the app on iPhone. I also had to turn off my cellular data to see the preview on the app. (must be known challenge since it’s listed in the instructions if the preview doesn’t show up). Set the camera preferences- sensitivity to crashes, parking, sound, etc.

Mangoal updated version for 2025 Audi q6 comes with Starvis 2 processor and an optional paid account where you can get lifetime ($34) account to store video/photos in the cloud, license plate readers, distance measurements, etc. Since I have a 24 month lease and it’s already 6 months in, I opted for 2 year $16 membership. (There’s no Starvis 2 dashcam for ZDX to date).

With the Cyber Monday bundle, I also purchased the polarized glare filters for the front and rear as well.

Hoping that I won’t ever need to use what’s being filmed, but glad to know that at least if something should happen, there’s a chance to capture it on 4K/2K video.
