thanks for keeping interest to this cursed project
Here are some pics of current status
We have a change of plans - instead of two Garret 2863 turbos there will be one bigger 3794 turbo - all because of lack of space and general PITA because the engine is cross mounted
they begged to give them a couple of weeks more to finish it
but the car is actually being worked on at last
Glad to hear they're actually getting something done. I can't imagine the frame of mind I'd be in if my car had been in a shop that long with the amount of progress they've made.
I understand their side though because it is the first one ever, nothing to base what their doing off of.
This thing should be at SEMA next year, I don't know if you guys doing something similar is Russia, but this build is so cool and unique it's gotta be shown off.
With traditional delays but things are going. Fuel lines ready, so are coolers and intercooler.
Instead of relocating the battery to the trunk space we decided to go with a compact lithium battery and make a custom mount for it under the hood.
First start and ECU operations comming soon (and so are winter holidays)
Sandro I recently came across a thread regarding a custom one off SH-AWD TL turbocharged, done by a shop stateside with the help of Honda, which provided the software for tuning. They state the car made amazing power, except that the transmission was the only limitation. Are you going to go for mild gains, mod the transmission?

No transmission mods (I wish there were any out there) except additional fluid cooler. As for gains we'll see how it goes but 500hp (or even whp) is the target.
Off topic: Had a long weekend and watched around an hours worth of youtube Russian car crash video compilations. Needless to say it seems like driving is Russia is about as dangerous as playing Russian roulette. Sandro is it as bad as it appears? I read that just about everyone has an in dash camera on board because accidents are so prevalent and they use them as an aid to determine liability. If so aren't you scared to death, driving around in your Z's especially after investing so much into them?
Finishing installation of piggy back ECU (Unichip), dyno tuning and first power graphs comming soon
As for russian driving, yeah its a bit chaotic but nowhere close to asian traffic I have seen (India, Thailand etc). I've never had any severe problems on the road
How's she doing Sandro....haven't been on acurazine in forever and had to check this thread!
Waiting for piggyback ECU tuning First AWD dyno runs without boost show 200whp, thats considering low compression pistons and about 3.5L displacement with catless exhaust.
Dyno run on my stock ZDX was about same 200whp with tuned stock ECU and RV6 J-pipe. This also means that stock ZDX is nowhere near 300-305hp that Honda claims, rather 270hp
Just out of curiosity, the total cost of your project including car would still be less than a BMW X6M correct?
Awesome build!
Yes it would be less than X6M but I doubt I'll equal performance (twin-turbo V8 vs single turbo V6 with unknown drivetrain capability) but we'll see soon
This is how we look ready for ECU tuning and dyno runs
All hardware works seem to be finished, everything is running smooth and the car even drived without CELs
Custom LED tail lights are on their way
Silver box in the left corner is the Unichip Q ECU
To those who still watch this crazy project... IT IS FINISHED!
Took the car today and test drove it almost to the max. And I can say it pulls!
There are minor tweaks left at certain peak RPMs but overall the project is complete.
So far we stopped at ~340awhp (420-450 motor hp if we take transmission loss as 0.2-0.25, although they are apparently much bigger than this) and 440 Nm torque at 0.75 Bar turbo pressure.
Engine setup can give much more than this but we are afraid that tranny and SH-AWD won't be able to handle this power, so for now we leave it as it is.
P.S. If there are moderators out there please change the thread name to "My turbo ZDX project complete"
