Question TSX in Edmonton Winter

With the back to school season in full swing, it's only a matter of time before Edmonton gets hit with the white stuff. I bought a brand new 2012 TSX this summer and I considering getting snow tires on it. Any suggestions?

I've never had snow tires before so this will be a new experience. Should I get them mounted on steel rims? Do the tires have to be the exact same size? What happens to our tire pressure monitoring system? How much should I expect to spend? Any local TSX owners have recommendations?

Thanks for any advice.

Hello, I only have a 2009 TSX but im pretty sure it will be the same as long as its the 4 cylinder model. Anyways i have michelins X-ice for my winters, but i have them on my stock wheels.

I spent about a little over $1000 for tires an installation at the dealership. So it might be cheaper in other shops. I think it will cost about $50 more for steel rims, im not sure. I used my stock rims which already has the TPMS on it so it wasnt too bad.

Hope this helps.

i got a TL-S and i'm running michelins X-ice Xi2 on steels on my car and i love them, never slipped or got stuck even once last winter. would defs recommend them to anyone.
My steels have TPMS in them so it works like my summer/stock rims.

Any suggestion for tire sizes? I've read it's fairly common to downsize.

How much would the TPMS sensors cost? If I forgo the sensors, will this cause any problems?

I just kept used the same size as my stock. The 2nd gens usually come with 225/50/R17. Didnt realize you can downsize but i would be concerned as it may not clear our brake caliper. Dont quote me on that though. Im not sure how much TPMS costs but im sure its fairly around $150 or more. Hope this helps.
