Question for Calgary Aziner's

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to make a trip down to Calgary from Edmonton to take a look at a KBP 2007 TL-S. Can anyone recommend a good reputable private mechanic I can take the tl-s to? The carproof checks out but I want to be extra safe since this is from a private dealership. Thanks!

I'm not sure. I have heard mixed reviews on taking it to an Acura dealer to get checked out. I know the car was purchased at Silverhill Acura from previous records. Should I take it back there to have a full pre-purchase inspection? Or go the private mechanic route?

I would recommend taking it to Acura...
No one really knows as much about the car as them.

If you decide you do want to go the private route, I can get you in touch with my mechanic that has done all my servicing on the TL (timing belt/water pump, brakes, all regular maintenance, etc.) and owns a 3G TL himself.

Alright thanks Khalil.e

I'll have it taken to Northwest Acura since I would like a different perspective. A 125 point inspection was done at Silverhill Acura but I would like to come to Calgary and speak to the advisor regarding the condition of the vehicle at Northwest Acura.

Hey let us know how the car turns, out. Seems like a pretty good deal after I checked it out online.

Jatt I went down to Calgary yesterday and.. I got it! It's in really condition inside out. The only thing is there are about 8 minor dents from a recent hailstorm. Also, on the drive back to Edmonton from Calgary a bunch of semi's decided to blast their way down 1 of the 2 lanes under construction and bombard everyone with flying rocks. Everyone swerved over to the emergency lane but 1 of those rocks owned me. It put a major crack in one of my foglight lenses. Luckily I searched this forum to find a good & cheap DIY to fix opposed to buying an OEM replacement. For nearly $300, no thanks Acura.

Thats awesome. I'm happy for you. People driving those semis really need to take it easy sometimes. Must of upset your mood on the drive back! But at least you found a fix thats awesome. Send me the link for that fog light fix, I wouldn't mind checking it out myself.

Do you think you will get the dents fixed? Or are they not that noticeable?

TYPE S FTW!

I know.. some of those semi truck drivers are so reckless. I wasn't extremely upset on the drive back after but it really irked me how they blew past everyone like that. Honestly, there were signs every few hundred meters that said "Loose gravel" and speed limit signs of "80". Taking that into consideration, everyone was travelling 85-90 km/h while these trucks are doing around 100km/h. Frustrating

Here's a link to the foglight fix. I know it's for an RL but I'm guessing it's the same concept for our TL's. If not, I need to find another solution haha.

For this fix, I might consider tackling it sometime this month.

As for the hailstorm dents, I'm going to put that off until after our depressing winter. The dents aren't excessively prominent so it isn't too bothersome for the moment. It's unfortunate I picked this car up at the end of summer, otherwise I would be giving it a full detail and fixing every minor imperfection. With winter coming along, I'm just concerned about getting winter tires lol.

Yeah man this car is so beastly. How's your new TL treating you?

That fix seems pretty good. I could of used it on my old car lol. I'm loving my TL, I like it better than my mercedes I had before. Its much more roomy and got all the performance I need.

Plus I'm getting pretty good mileage also. I have to buy some all season mats though before the winter. Not sure if I should just go to Canadian Tire and just grab some. Yeah I'm not sure about winter tires yet. I'm going to try winging it I think this winter and see how I make out.

I just went to acura on the southside yesterday and picked up some touch up paint. Have to touch some of the rock chips up.

What model was your previous Mercedes? I was riding in my cousin's 2009 C300? I know it was the C-Class but wow! I really like that car. The exterior lines, the interior was gorgeous and I was constantly amazed at the dual moonroof. I know that's a hefty option but so cool! Let's hope they standardize that for future cars.

What are your numbers for mileage? I still haven't filled up since Calgary because I haven't done a whole lot of driving. The drive back from Calgary only consumed half my tank so I was pleased with that. I was considering going the Canadian Tire route to grab some mats since my driver's side carpet already looks filthy from all the dirt I'm tracking in. However, I decided to use one of these forums sponsers, prestige acura, to order the all-season mats, trunk tray, and door handle cap replacement to do the shaved door lock mod. I got it off Kaleb. He gave good prices but shipping to us is the killer. It's still cheaper than buying it locally at one of our Acura dealerships. I called in and they quoted me nearly $200 just for all-season mats. I stopped talking to the representative after that haha.

Yeah I'll see how much snow we get. If it isn't too bad, maybe I can squeeze by running on the all-seasons. Winter tires make such a dramatic difference though, it was day and night with the softer compound. I'm kind of on a closer budget now though, so those might have to wait until next winter.

Yeah I need to drop by Acura to get some touch-up paint as well. You went to the southside one? Whereabouts are you located in Edmonton?

My model was the 2007 C350 4 matic. I loved the all wheel drive and the 3.5 liter engine was awesome. It was the older style c class though. Great car but something I would rather have when im 45 or something lol.

Mile has been pretty good I've bene getting about 7 - 8 Litres / 100 km so close to about 30 mpg. I can't believe you haven't filled up since Calgary lol. Start enjoying the car. Hit up Whyte Ave or something and cruise all night long lol.

I actually grew up on the southside like whitemud and 34 st area. Just moved to Beaumont though. How about yourself? Where you located?

Yeah I definitely wouldn't mind settling with a car like that when I get older. Or perhaps something even higher class depending where I am financially

I think my first readout for mileage was at 11 L/100KM. However, that did include quite a bit of highway driving so it isn't an accurate representation of my usual driving. I've already filled up 3 times since then. I've been happily guzzling the gas since I love the ride so much!

I'm in the northside of the city in Belle Rive. I sometimes see another KBP cruise around and someone that lives a few blocks away from me has a silver type-s. Too bad more people from our city aren't on the forum here.

Have you prepared your car for winter yet? I did a little pre-winter care to it by polishing and slapping on 2 layers of wax, zaino style.
