Zaino: Z1-less?
well, it will go on
it will dry
you can rub it off
but it just wont be the same effect or anywhere near the same durability
i have a couple of customers who did that for a year or two, (before they were my customers) and they noticed the diff in results with Z1.
since it is only a couple times a year (maybe three for most users) get it and use it....

Couldn't notice a difference
I'm not a nut about my car, so I don't put 20 coats or anything extreme like that on my car. I did the whole Z1/Z2 on my old 92 Accord. But only the Z2 on my CL-S a few months ago (and I'm now completely out of Z2, and low on Z1), and it felt really smooth. Couldn't really tell a difference. Too bad no one has done a experiment on this. Maybe I should be the first?
If you get ZFX, you don't need the Z1 step
If you buy the ZFX, you don't need the Z1 step. Probably too late for you, but here is an excerpt from the Zaino site:
"ZFX™ can be used with any of our Show Car Polish products, including Z-2, Z-3 and Z-5. Plus, ZFX™ makes using Z-1 PreLok unnecessary on cars that have been clayed and thoroughly cleaned with Dawn dishwashing liquid."
