Wolfgang Fuzion - Initial Impressions
I have been researching Wolfgang’s new Fuzion wax for a while. I am not a person who buys into hype but the web chatter has been pretty good on this product. It is a carnauba and polymer blended LSP. The $175 price tag has kept me on the other side of the fence but I’m weak when it comes to sales so I took advantage of a sale at AG. It was still $100 with the $75 discount plus it includes a free refill. You get a wood storage box, Fuzion paste wax, and a Wolfgang detailing DVD.
I performed my fall detail last month and I wanted to put on a final coat of wax for the winter. There was a break in the weather on Saturday so I decided to brave the freezing morning temps and perform a wash and wax detail. While I am still scratching my head as to why I spent $100 on an LSP I have always been torn between having the carnauba look and sealant durability. I wanted to see if this product gives the best of both types. So far, I have not been disappointed. This LSP wipes on and off super easy. I also like the fact that you do not have to wait for the wax to haze. Just apply a thin coat to a panel and wipe off. It does not leave the super slick finish like Four Star UPP but a quick spritz of FK425 takes care of that. The resulting finish is the best I have seen on my car. The look is dark and wet looking. The blue metal flakes really pop underneath the sun.
Application:
Apply the wax using the supplied foam pad or your own. I applied the wax one panel at a time using horizontal and vertical motions to get complete coverage. I found this easier than using just a circular or horizontal motion. I may have just been hungry but I could swear that this wax smells like cherries.
Removal:
Since this wax is a little oily I used two plush Eurow MF towels for removal (see Exceldetail for the towels). I used one towel for the initial wipeoff and the second towel for the final buff. The final finish was not quite as slick as what Four Star UPP leaves but I had less static for dust to cling to.
Final Inspection:
I pulled the car out into the low December sun to inspect for streaking and any missed areas. I noticed a couple of streaks so I pulled the car back into the garage and applied FK425 to the whole car including the windows. FK425 is also great for windows. Note that I waited about an hour before I applied the FK425. The streaks are gone and the finish is as slick as ever.
My first impression is that Wolfgang Fuzion wax looks fantastic on properly prepped paint. I say this because this wax will NOT fill any imperfections. It may even enhance them. The NBP paint on my TL-S is deep, dark, and super wet looking. I will have to wait and see about durability. Stay tuned.
It was raining today so I took some pics in the garage.

Looks great, I can't wait to hear what you think of the longevity. Did they recommend a "Bonding Time" given that it is supposed to have some type of sealant mixed in? how about layering? What is your game plan to test the Longevity? are you measuring slickness?, beading? both?
The TL-S looks awesome

Awesome shots SJ! I too was thinking of pulling the trigger on that AG sale but decided not to. I still have way too many LSP's I need to try and hopefully this winter I'll be able to do so.

Man, that looks really, really fantastic.
But, persoanally, I can't see spending $100+ on a can of wax, no matter what kind of box it comes in.

But, not everyone has limits as I (we) do, and to each their own! Bottom line, she looks sweet! And you can't give all that appearance credit to the wax......paint condition has a lot to do with it....hats off to Stephen.....

1 Month Update!!!
It has been over one month since I applied a coat of Wolfgang Fuzion wax. I performed an Optimum NRWS on the TL-S this morning and decided to try to capture the solution beading. The "beading" of the NRWS solution is still great with small tight liquid beads. This photo is pretty cool since I was also able to get the flash to bring out the blue metal flakes in the NBP paint. You can actually see the blue metal flakes in between the beads.

Dang, what happened to my bead picture I posted this morning? I did a quick write up on monthly car care with a pic and its nowhere to be found. Thats like twice in a week now..

Thanks Patrick. There are plenty of NRWS gurus out there now.

2 month update!!!!
Well, it has been 2 months since I first applied Wolfgang Fuzion. I performed another ONRWS (Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine) wash this week. I am still getting excellent beading of the ONRWS solution while maintaining outstanding gloss and depth from the paint. I will post a 3 month update next month. I think 3 months with a pure carnauba/polymer wax should be about the norm compared to a pure carnauba or pure polymer LSP.

wow that does look amazing
this finshkare stuff looks pretty good, im kinda torn between getting just a sampler or just a whole gallon of the FK425 stuff. its getting pretty good reviews online, and since i have a bunch of the other compounds and what not to use up first, i dont really need the stuff in the sampler. man, i cant imagine just ONWRS washes and a QD to keep my car looking good

3 Month Update!!!
I have finished my review of Wolfgang Fuzion Wax and I give it a big . Over the past 3 months there has been no loss in gloss or water beading. It was difficult to get shots of water beading because the water just did not want to stay on the paint.
Since this LSP is a hybrid (polymer and carnauba), I think three months is a good test for durability. Also remember that I only applied 1 layer for this test. 2 layers of an LSP is usually standard. My favorite aspect of this wax is that it still makes the paint look wet like a pure carnauba wax. Danase Wet Glaze also comes to mind when making a comparison for wetness. Under normal conditions I would definitely add a spray wax once per month so I can easily get 6 months of protection. Wolfgang Fuzion is an excellent LSP for those of us that want the wetness of a carnauba and the durability of a polymer sealant.
