On the Porsche mats for the Cayenne Turbo we used
1Z einszett Plastic Deep Cleaner Uber Leather and Carpet Brush Metro Vac Uber Interior MF Towel Vac ---> Spritz 1Z einszett on the mats --> use brush to agitate the salt ---> use the microfiber towel to pull the salt off --> vac ---> repeat if necessary If you have a steamer it will do a great job as well. Plain old water has about the best affinity for getting rid of salt stains on carpets or mats.
Water is a polar molecule and most salts that would be staining your carpet are either sodium chloride, magnesium chloride or a combo of some sort. Nothing will dissolve those faster than water. The temp of the water is relatively insignificant too. Hot water will only dissolve a few grams per 100 mL more than cold water. I use water for the salt, 303 Carpet/Upholstery cleaner for the dirt. Remove with an extractor. I picked up a Bissell Little Green for that and it does a decent enough job. |
