wheel cleaner question
wheel cleaner question
OK, I've spent some time putting multiple coats of wax on my rims so its easy to wash off the lovely brake dust that the Brembo's love to emit. If I spray some wheel cleaner or even some Simple Green on a rag to aid in the removal of stubborn spots did I just remove all the coats of wax I applied?
If so, what's my best solution? Right now I wash once a week and midweek I use a quick detail spray to clean them up. Am I safe using the wheel cleaner (safe I mean not stripping the wax)?
thanks!!

Yup.....That stuff is meant to dissolve dirt, that wax you applied doesnt stand a chance. Not to mention wax has a very low melting point (heat).

Get em clean, apply a SEALANT (much higher durabilty then a wax). Dale likes Nufinish, which is a good recommendation, not to mention a good cleaner/protectant for wheels. Then hit with a QD or spray sealant after washing. care for wheels the same as you would paint.
thanks!!

- wash
- Apply QD after/while drying
- Spray sealant monthly
- Recoat ever season with a base sealant
thanks!!
