What works best for.......

......waxing without getting all that "white" dust all over everything?

Here's the deal:

I'm looking for a wax for my 2002 Ford Escape, which is silver but has dark gray cladding/bumpers as in the picture below. I don't want to spend the time doing the Zaino thing, with all the multiple steps (besides, isn't Zaino a polish, not a wax?), I just want a simple one-step wax that won't stain the cladding if I should get the wax on it.

Any ideas?

Tom,

Go with "Liquid Glass". You can put it on any part of your car, and it goes on and comes off soooo easy.

liquid glass contains a lot of silica, and is very abrasive, try p21S wax or if you have a harley shop u can pick up the s100, same hing jst less $$ It will not stain.

Yeah, but is that stuff actually a wax?

I always thought that Liquid Glass was just a polish.....

How about this p21 stuff?

Zaino doesn't stain the plastic.......Its only a bitch to do the first time, then it is easy as normal waxing.

Yeah, but I don't want to buy 10,000 bottles of different shit from Zaino.

I just want a simple wax that won't mess up the plastic on my truck.

Tom, I just used 3M perfect it wax... no problems with dust.

but... as for waxing the dark cladding... you cant use a WAX. any carnauba will leave residue if in crevices.

the only thing i would consider using on that cladding is Zaino... you dont need to do any steps or any BS... just get a bottle of Z5 and a bottle of ZFX... mix them up and apply it. wipe off 30 min later.

but if your just waxing the paint my favorite wax is 3M perfect-it

get some Meguires Gold Class and Some Rubber/Vinyl Protectent. IF you get any wax on it just spary the protectent. Cleans it off and gives it a nice shine.

really - you can get away with not doing any more work than a wax - by using the zfx and Z2 or Z5 mixture - .

lets count the steps now . . .

1- wash the truck
2-dry the truck
3-mix the polish and zfx in a little bottle (included)
4-apply the mixture to the truck
5-let it dry
6-wipe it off

OK, now compare that to any wax you may consider - same thing if not less steps (some waxes are three part systems)

Now, ure 6 little steps just got you months of shine and protection . . lay a second coat on after wiping the first off - and you're good to go for many months - anywhere from 4-6 . . .

and in that same time frame - you will have to apply the wax of your choice 2-4 more times to get the same durability (and im being generous there). yes, there is the odd other product out there can lasts longer than the average wax - but pound for pound - its hard to beat the Z . . .

Homer2,

No need explaining it. The problem with most people that read about Zaino is they don't understand that the steps outlined are not just for Zaino. If you want to prep a car for wax/polish/polymer, you need to follow those steps,

Sal is a perfectionist and want everyone to love the shine from Zaino. Not following his steps won't hurt anything, you just might not get the same level of shine or protection,

The goal with those instructions is to get everyone to the same point before applying the product.

I had good luck with Zymol. Easy on, easy off and doesn't stain the plastic.
