What do you guys use on your tires, rims and interior?

Another newbie question. :tomato:

Thanks

mrclrider 05-15-2009 04:28 PM

be a little more specific..cleaning, protecting??

Derk's K24 05-15-2009 05:08 PM

Tuff Shine, Wet Paint, and for interior, 303, Surf City Dash away, and Surf City Voodoo for leather.

Steven Bell 05-15-2009 05:19 PM

303 Protectant for sure for the non-leather surfaces. Zaino leather offerings for the leather stuff and Opti-Bond Tire Seal. All stuff (except Zaino) available from ExcelDetail and/or Detailed Image here on Acurazine.

Tuf Shine for tires, Opt Power Clean or DG All Wheel Cleaner for wheels. Very often I use the Laitner Power brush and/or Ace Powerstick.
Interiors usually einszett Cockpit Cleaner, Optimum Protectant Plus or 303.

i grew up and lived in the bay area. when i first moved to Long Beach 5 years ago, it killed me whenever someone mentioned the southbay. i always thought they were talking about the 408. hahah!

nf3d0149ab 05-17-2009 01:30 PM

^ Haha...yeah I never heard of another one in Cali...

TSXinSouthBayCalifornia 06-11-2009 12:36 PM

sup peoples,

Sorry I never got back on this thread....

Pat, I don't have a cordless drill (or any other drill for that matter).

Is there a wheel brush I can use without a drill?

The two that you mentioned seem a little pricey, just to clean the wheels.

I need to get with you to order those extra pads, probably need some more polish, and the tire and interior stuff.

TSXinSouthBayCalifornia 06-11-2009 12:36 PM

and yeah nf3d0149ab, I'm in the Southbay of Los Angeles (Long Beach to be exact).

Thanks for the invite tho!

TSXinSouthBayCalifornia 06-11-2009 12:40 PM

Pat, I looked at the Tuf Shine on your site, and saw the package of the clear coat and tire cleaner, versus the bottle of spray and shine detailer.

Could you elaborate on the differences?

thx

Josh99CL 06-11-2009 12:42 PM

Tuf-Shine Cleaner/clear coat for tires and I ordered P21 wheel cleaner and the detail brush from DI since my last order was from Patrick.

That's two separate things from the same maker. The shine detailer is a touch up detailer think spray wax style.

If you're looking for maintenance on the RUBBER on your tires you want the tuf-shine cleaner and clear coat.

Wow, so the cleaner and clear coat extends the life of your tires?

Could you elaborate?

I have no idea of what tire "maintenance" is.

Thanks Josh!

I doubt it does anything to extend the life of them but they'll look good (it definitely doesn't hurt).

Tuf-Shine just gives you a nice clean tire look and you can get some gloss out of it depending on how many coats of the clear you use. It's an appearance thing. Unless you have nasty ass winters and barely every drive you're going to replace tires from tread wear before rubber degradation.

Maintenance on this forum is usually referring to cleaning =)

Ok so correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing the cleaner and clear coat is something I can do without?

I mean if the spray makes the tires look nice, is there going to be any REAL noticeable difference in this other stuff?

I think you're still confused. There are two different Tuf-shine products Excel sells. 1 is a cleaner+clear coat for tires the other is a spray n shine quick detailer for your cars paint. It's to help keep it in pristine shape between washes.

It's not one or the other it's 2 different products for 2 different applications.

Leo Type-S 06-11-2009 03:33 PM

what's a good leather 2-in-1 cleaner/conditioner to use? is meguiars pretty good?

so you guys use 303 for everything in the interior except the seats? and does black wow actually make your door trim darker or just protect it?

sorry for all the questions.

Wow................. :tomato:

Ok, well then tell me this.

The Tuf tire product is part of a package, with both a tire cleaner, and clearcoat.

Is there not a Tuf tire product with just an all in one?

Like compare these two (the Optimum is the picture I was looking at, and why I got confused. It's right above the Tuf spray.) -

Optimum Tire Shine (17oz)

and

Tuf Shine Appearance Kit

TSXinSouthBayCalifornia 06-11-2009 03:54 PM

Actually in reading the product description for the Tuf kit, I think I got my answer, but would still love to hear your take Josh, and wanted to confirm that this PACKAGE, is what you guys use?

thanks for your patience Josh.

03tlCHARCOL 06-11-2009 05:32 PM

Love Tuf Shine except for one pesky tire that doesn't love it back! The package consists of the cleaner to clean the tire and once dry use the applicator to coat and dress the tire.

Here's a link if you want to read up more on this product.
