I have a small scratch on my door that annoys me everytime I get into it. What is the best way to get rid of a scratch on the exterior paint? How do the pros do it?

 

is it a deep scratch or just a clearcoat scratch? if just clearcoat then u can polish it out, but if its a deep scratch search the forum for tips on touch up painting

 

If it is just in the clearcoat it can usually be rubbed out. At the factory the color coat is sprayed on (and has no shine btw) followed by the clear. Any auto parts store has a medium polish for removing the scratch followed by a fine polish to bring back the clear as glass finish. I use Meguires fine cut cleaner followed by their swirl remover, then wax the area.

Touch-up paint. But, if you don't sand it down/buff it out afterwards, it's noticeable as well.

At least with touch-up paint, you'll prevent possible future rust.

 

Just be careful on the wetsanding, do it SUPER lightly a little bit it a time with a 1500 grit paper atleast. Acura's clear coat is very thin.
