What is this?

Hello,

Well, I was cruising down the road (between farm fields) when I notice this helicopter flying low to the ground watering the fields. Well, when he circled the field, he went over the road that cars were driving down. Anyway's, whatever he was spraying onto the crops managed to get all over my car. My windshield was the most noticeable, but it obviously wasn't just water since it instantly spotted the crap out of my winshield. Anyway's, I was just wondering if I should wash my car to get whatever was in that spray off the car, or is something like this pretty harmless? Any thoughts would be great.

I would say a wash should be a minimum.

Probably some chemical pesticide for crops. I would wash immediately. First I would rinse the car thoroughly before using soap so that you don't get the chemicals in the wash bucket.

Yeah I would have washed it right when I got home. If the spots didnt come off then I would have gone on to other things.

When did this happen?

Wash with the two bucket method, then clay, clean, polish, protect.

It most likely was a pesticide to kill bugs.

Hey guys,

I didn't have time to wash the car, but I did wipe off the crap on the windshield. It came right off. I really haven't seen anything on the car itself, so I just let it be. If it's still there tomorrow, I will wash it. I can't imagine that it's anything too harmful, but I could be wrong.

Maybe it's me, but common sense would come into play here for at least a hand wash?? I mean you came here asking what to do, and everyone said to wash it. If you don't want to thats fine.

do something....dont just let it sit on the car.....i am sure you can find 5 minutes with a hose....run it to the car wash....something....

i dont use the car wash, but if i was out and something like that happened to my car i would go right home to wash the car, or if i couldnt do that, then run it to the car wash...i will deal with the swirls at a later time....

Well, I took all of your advice and took my car to a touchless automatic car wash this morning. Upon entering the car wash, I was greeted by some teenage kid who gladly took my money and put it into the machine. He then proceeded to scrub my rims (which was fine, they were dirty). He then, however, took the same brush that he dipped into the soapy water bucket and proceeded to start scrubbing the side of my car - DO'H! I immediately stopped him and just proceeded into the car wash. Anyway's, I looked after the car wash and luckily I don't see any scratches. It's kind of overcast today, so I think it would be hard to see a scratch. Is there a good method for detecting scratches without a sunny day? Also, will using that dirty brush put swirls into my paint? Regardless, I'm hoping all of that crap from the helicopter is now off my paint.

Think of all the other dirty cars he's scrubbed with that same brush. I'd inspect the area he scrubbed once the sun comes out. The only things that touch my car are sheepskin wash mitts, waffle weave towels, and microfiber towels.

Any brushes or towels I use on the wheels, wheel wells, or tires will never come in contact with the paint.
